That's the problem, Steve. Qobuz spoils you, even at 16/44. At hi-res, there's no debate, really.

Well! That didn't go well 🤯 Guess I'm stuck with Qobuz for ever now 😱🤣 Played all the fast and loose stuff tonight and Spotty didn't cut it 🙄 Oh. What do you think happened ?

I guess I got used to listening to Spotify playing what it did well enough. Considering some material as not that will recorded. This is a still a factor of course!
Then using Qobuz for a month, I readjusted - listened to new and old material and found going back tough.
I missed that mid range prominence and that nth degree of clarity you do get with thebuz.

The more I listen, the more Qobuz impresses. Spotify is always a good fallback, but is shown up in complex music.

More like Yello, Ozric Tentacles, Shpongle, Jon Hopkins and similar busy music. This is where Qobuz hi-res wins.
Also - of course - anything choral from the great composers. Mozart's Requiem is a challenge for any system.

I am ending my subscription with Quobuz Sublime as I cannot get rid of the mid-end bloat it has with the way my system is set up. For me, it is even harder to listen to more complex music. I enjoy how my system is set up with files and Spotify and will only try it again if the balance of my system changes.

In my room they didn't work for me, there was so much mid that the sound hurt my ears though Vic didn't get this so my ears may be partly to blame! I believe the PRVs benefit from more space to the walls and ceiling than I can give them. I expect you're aware Vic is testing out other surprisingly low-cost drivers, these may change the frequency balance.

I go back to my warning some months ago that hi-res makes more demands on a system, especially in the areas of frequency balance and harshness.
For now, you have the balance you want, John. Enjoy it!

Hats off and a heartfelt thank you to the OP from me.
The difference in sound quality from Qobuz is easy to hear.
I will be keeping this.

Yes looking forward to trying it Yes, I hope to try out when life gets back to some normality Vic has been praising them very highly. If I like I will try Quobuz again.

I have written to Qobuz Support about the album Sense of Direction by Climax Blues Band. All the tracks are muddled and one is missing. This will be a test of whether their response is in keeping with their subscription charges. Try playing track 7: it's clearly Shopping Bag People (track 3). open.qobuz.com/album/jv16mztds3k0b

Oh no! - disaster - Qobuz albums aren't starting to get muddled up like ones on Tidal, are they?
