Might be ok with a quick wipe and then you have a lower barrier to going up and down the road
Look out though it becomes addictive

I keep thinking I must clean mine up and service it. Take it to a repair shop and blow£50 getting it done right mate. New cables etc etc...Having a nicely running bike makes it all so much easier. Unless of course you break a pedal and leave yourself with a hoof.

So where do you go for your bike rides Chris, do you have to go far out of Edinburgh for some stunning countryside?

We're very lucky here Julesd68 - the cycling is superb. I can leave the house and cycle off across the Forth Bridge and into North Queensferry and barely touch a road! Great cycle that. Or off into the Pentlands with a multitude of routes depending on what I can be bothered doing. I like it up there too, wild, scenic and interesting. Glentress and Innerleithen are about 30/40 mins from me so that's two superb trail centres nearby as well. Inners offers an uplift service too so I use that to keep my downhill riding skills in. Read that as scare myself witless. Also, right outside the house we have Corstorphine hill which is great for riding and I also build trails up there(responsibly) and that's good too. Goes by the back of the zoo so I usually stop and have a bit lunch beside the zebras! Very surreal.
Yeah, lots of good riding around here Sir.

I was worried you might say something like that Chris! I'm proper jealous and reminds me I need to get out of London before too long. All sounds totally awesome.
Great photo - love to see more ...

I prefer roads, but love the quiet country roads. Maybe sort out the dirt bike and trundle around Chobham common this summer....

It's very good Martin T. Leave the house, ride through the Dalmeny estate(traffic free) stop in at the Hawes Inn for a quick pint, head across the old road bridge(traffic free) and take in the views. Drop down into N Queensferry and you then join the Fife Coastal Path but you're right under the bridges!
Head along the FCP,enjoy more spectacular views and there's a lovely wee bit beach which is great for lunch.
Fantastic ride,really good.
