I had a Denon 2910 and it was surprisingly good, they aren't expensive online if you can find one.

are you using an active subwoofer,if you have try turning it off,i thought it was the heating or the fridge/freezer making it pop try just using headphones, denon into seg dac, headphones into dac miss out amps, see if that sorts it. you are not using homeplugs by any chance.

Do you realise that the vast majority of players that can play SACD discs will NOT output the sound through the digital output.
For SACD it's through the two RCA outputs or through HDMI.

The Pioneer Blu-ray player that I recommended to Tim in another thread does indeed output digital S/PDIF and it plays SACD and DVD-A.

So does oppo`s,i use a denon through coax and optical into a standac into amp for stereo sound never checked in the denon`s set up menu`s what its set up as because i have just swapped the guts over from to the other.it comes up with sacd/dvda on the front of the player but you would have to turn DTS off going through a standac
