Hello,
As mentioned in an earlier post I made, I just picked up a Denon DN-C635 pro CD player. I got it for a price that seemed to good to be true ($25 shipped) and guess what, it was. I received it today to find that it does not power on at all. I opened it up and did some testing and it appears to be the power transformer that is the issue. I had hoped it would just be a blown fuse, but that seems to be fine. When I went back and looked at the listing I got it from it now says that the item wouldn't power on at all, but either I have no memory of that being there or I just didn't read it closely enough...
Regardless, seeing as a fully functional unit has gone for $75-$100+, I'd like to try and get it working. I know there are much better CD players out there, and compared to what I've seen some people on here talking about $100 for a component may as well be nothing, but unfortunately I am trying to get the best I can on a very tight budget at the moment.
A lesser issue, and one that is irrelevant if I can't get it working, is that the knob is missing from the Push control on the front (track forward/back) and the peg for the rotary switch underneath is broken off. Looking at Ebay, it seems like this may be a design flaw as nearly all of the ones listed look the same.
So, I need to come up with compatible replacement parts for (from service manual):
00D2336552000 Power Trans
00D2120410002 Rotary Encoder-Jog Switch
00D1120864002 Knob(Maru)
I was only able to find one site that claims to have the transformer available, and conveniently they have the other 2 parts as well, however I'm not familiar with the company and online reviews are mixed. The site is Encompass.com. Has anyone here heard of or had any experience with them?
Alternatively, can anyone recommend another source for compatible parts, or give advice on other things to try before I replace the transformer in the event that that ends up not being the issue?
Thanks.
