The Pangea sounds interesting. Don't forget to let us know your thoughts on it after it's burned in.

My Oehlback XXL Reclocker arrived this morning. I plugged it in got nothing out of it. On checking, the power LED on the unit wasn't on (the green LED on PSU was on) and the unit itself got quite warm, quite quickly. It also rattles a bit. The packaging was intact. I've messaged Oehlback on eBay.

How annoying! Did you order it from someone who will quickly replace it?

It was ordered from oehlbach-hersteller-shop in Germany, which seems to be an arm of Oehlbach themselves. They have 100% feedback over 539 transactions, so I'm hopeful.

Apparently I need to call their tech support, in Germany, who will "try to help you out." If the product is faulty, they will do an exchange and send me a DHL Return Label.

Hope you get this sorted out. The light is Blue on the unit I have no issues with it with the Tinkerboard I think it came up as D70 when setting it up but not sure

Cheers, John. I've just spoken to a very helpful (and, thankfully, English-speaking) German by the name of Gellrich who is sending me a DHL return label for my unit through the post.

That is great service, Paul. At least they know how to deal with this the right way.

Mine arrived yesterday and seems to work very nicely but my Rpi4 seems to take several reboots to get it to play. I am not yet sure if it's due to a Picoreplayer issue, USB options in Picoreplayer or something else. I need to do a bit of troubleshooting before bothering the Picoreplayer guys.

For the price, I certainly found it to be a winner, Martin. As I said the top end never settled down for me but there's a world of difference between your system and mine, so I'll be interested in your findings. It was fairly easily beaten by the AQ Carbon in my system, but with the AQ at ten times the price so it should have been. Paul, could you sum up the benefits of the AQ Carbon in your system - how much better than the cheap stuff is it?

Just butting in here, the AQ Carbon is an excellent cable but the Chinese 'Nordost' is not completely slaughtered, in fact it's a very capable cable that cost peanuts.
I can always send you the 'Nordost' if you want to give it a try? It's only 0.5m, though.

More of the good stuff with no downside is how I'd describe the step up from the (surprisingly good) Nordost-alike. As I remarked at the time though, it's no more than you'd hope for in something that costs ten times as much, if you actually pay full price that is. My 0.75m Carbon cost me £50.00 on eBay as opposed to the £119.00 that Future Shop want for one.

I'm not ready to shell out big bucks for USB cables just yet and I certainly wouldn't buy new ones.

My second Pangea USB cable (0.5m) arrived yesterday to replace the stock cable I got with the Oehlbach reclocker. Immediately noticeable improvement to the sound stage and detail. I have a 0.5 "Nordost" on order and will compare with the Pangea when it arrives.

Do you have a link to the Pangea you ordered?
Look forward to your thoughts on the Nordost clone.

Guys, how long does it take for cables to arrive from Audiophonics?
