I'm really hoping the Tinker works out. By separating the reclocking function one can upgrade as necessary.
I've had excellent results with my Powerbank feeding the DigiOne so will stick with it for the foreseeable future. It seems to last a long time between charges as well.

Interesting, as the QP-1 makes a big difference to the Asus and even a fuse change was quite audible.

I rearranged the system with the Tinker and reclocker in situ last night. Only issue was the reclocker is so light it needs weighting down when cabled up.
So switched everything on this morning with a sense of expectation only to find the powerbank was empty and needed a full charge. Bit annoying but it does last for ages when fully charged so can't complain too much ...

...only to find the powerbank was empty and needed a full charge. And that's why I kept the LPSU in situ despite it not actually affecting the SQ.

I appreciate the interest Martin, but even with my recent weight loss I'm a bit shy about getting in the buff ...😁

Phew! That was a bit of a session but we at last have lift off ... Biggest problem was getting power to the Tinker. It just didn't like my powerbank at all! Tried different cables, checked it was charging my mobile phone ok, but nothing, no light on either the powerbank or Tinker. Then I suddenly wondered whether it was providing enough current? My only alternative is the nasty psu supplied with the pi, so plugged that in and bingo, it powered up immediately. Took me a little while to get Volumio set up again on my mac and trying to remember what the best settings are. Will need to double check that all again later, but for now we have sound! Is it as good as the digione? Well not yet, nowhere near. I can hear potential but it sounds a little low rez and muddy; lacking the detail and fabulous 'airy' soundstage that I'm used to. And I most likely put that down to the psu powering the Tinker. I remember it sounding pants when tried with the digione - is it likely to have the same detrimental effect on the Tinker? My issue now is how to hear this system at its best so I can make a judgement on which streaming system is best. It's really disappointing that the Tinker doesn't work with my powerbank as that was working so well with the digione. I might try finding a powerbank with enough current, rather than go to the expense of an LPSU just yet ... Slinger - could I ask which powerbank works with your Tinker?

Intererstingly, Jules, I've also got a power bank that doesn't work with my ATB. The one that works is no longer available though. The nice, shiny, new power bank that I bought specifically to power the ATB is the one that doesn't work.

The Asus needs over 2A to power up, then settles down to just under 1A. It is not a low power board like the Pi. It caught my QP-1 out, too, so I had to have that upgraded.
For a safety margin, you need a 5V PSU capable of feeding 3A. Interestly, my old powerbank worked fine when I was testing.
Also, bear in mind that your DAC's USB input will be put to the test. It may not be as good as the S/PDIF input.

First great to hear you got it powered up If you wish you can have my battery and 12v to 5v DC converter It will do a better job than the SMPS you got. Nothing wrong with the USB input on the D70 This is outperforming the Limetree which is quite impressive A few pointers for getting the best out of it for not crazy money Get 2 either IFi USB silencers to help with the board. If you want cheaper the Vbus from Mark Grant. is half the price but to my ears not quite as good at cleaning noise up but will still get rid of a lot of noise. I now come to the opinion USB cables do matter www.audiophonics.fr/en/usb-cables-hubs/pangea-usb-ag-cable-usb-a-maleusb-b-male-20-gold-plated-24k-pure-silver-05m-p-11897.html

Thanks John, yes I would like to borrow your battery please. That will save me buying another powerbank that may or may not work.
For me it only has mileage if I feed the Tinker clean battery power and it then outperforms the Digione from the off. I don't want to start buying more bits and pieces for it unless it's intrinsically doing a better job.

I fired up the Tinker with the battery pack last night - was a bit late so can't make any meaningful comments due to having it at low volume but could immediately detect a cleaner sound. I'm hoping to properly put it through its paces tomorrow where it will be an even playing field with the Digione.

For that money you should consider a good 5V LPSU rather than faffing around with recharging. Remember that LKS on eBay?
