I don't think I've ever heard Paradigm speakers, they're not well known in the UK.

I don't think I've ever heard Paradigm speakers, they're not well known in the UK. They are a Canadian company, very good performance and sound for the prices.

Looks like we're both waiting for an answer from Michelangelo, about the Pi 4, Leo.

It's most likely the NIC and USB drivers that will have changed, perhaps some system drivers too, requiring a new build to include them.

Looks like we're both waiting for an answer from Michelangelo, about the Pi 4, Leo. Volumio has an experimental Pi4 image. I have tested with PecanPi, works perfectly. The Pi4 gets hot, but that is already a known issue with the Pi4. Honestly at this time I would recommend the Pi 3B, same audio performance a lot less heat. forum.volumio.org/experimental-volumio-build-for-raspberry-t12640.html

I've pretty much dismissed the idea of "upgrading" to the Pi 4. As I remarked in my post on the Volumio board I run a heavily customised config.txt which disables stuff like HDMI and underclocks the Pi 3, so switching up to a faster, more powerful Pi, would be pretty pointless.

Yes, me too. Underclocking and undervolting are the name of the game for getting excellent SQ, the Pi does not need to be more powerful to get the streaming job done. The only area it could improve is with the new ethernet provision. I'll leave that to someone else to compare.

Leo - could you tell us what your thinking is behind the new BOSC monoblocks? I appreciate they are Class D but interested to know if you are trying to achieve something different from others ...

Leo - could you tell us what your thinking is behind the new BOSC monoblocks? I appreciate they are Class D but interested to know if you are trying to achieve something different from others ... As far as I know the three amplfiers below are the only GaN devices currently on the market, and look at their prices - Merrill Audio Element 118 – $36k per pair
- ADG Productions Vivace -- $15k per pair
- Technics SE-R1 – $17k for stereo amp
Yes GaN is an emerging technology which gives class-d amplifier big improvements, but should it only be available at such a premium? The purpose behind BOSC is simplicity, it has one job, to be an amplifier and in my opinion it does that job extremely well and will be better or equivalent in specs/performance to the amps listed above. BOSC MSRP is $1500 per pair. There will be discounted pricing through Indiegogo, see here for details: www.orchardaudio.com/bosc

have used the GaN topology recently, but decided on a different route for our own switching amps, certainly has benefits in a few areas, but ultimately I could not obtain the sound that were we looking for which is effectively straight wire gain
I like the small package that hangs behind the speaker Leo, nice implementation
