Had various set ups over the years but always come back to valves and vinyl. Having said that I'm currently looking for a dac to match with my Audiolab transport or a nice new cd player.

Hi Scotty and welcome to TAS. Have a look at the Beresford Caiman SEG DAC, you’ll be surprised how good it is for the outlay.

Hi guys, South West Scotland, considering the SEG with Dorado, Roksan Kandy dac or Yamaha cds1000 cd player (always fancied a Yamaha). Max £400. Using a Cayin 845 and Tannoy Legacy Ardens, JPS cables.;-)

Depending on what facilities you want (pure DAC or headphone amp included) you could also look at these very well reviewed Chi-fi DAC’s - in order of cost …
Topping D50
SMSL SU-8
Topping DX7S
Topping DX7 Pro (out soon)
Another one to consider is the £265 March Audio DAC 1 if you can manage with USB only.

Simple audio roomplayer plus which sounds better as the rest of my system has grown. Even the inbuilt amp sounded good with the Ardens.
