This should be interesting. I've just found some "smart" bulbs - Dimmable, 9W, 850LM, 2700K-6500K Colour Temp. and controllable via an app with Alexa, for £4.99 each, on eBay. I've just ordered three, so I'll let you know if they're any good or not. The vendor is supposedly in the UK and has 99.7% positive feedback.

Are they wi-fi enabled? Otherwise, how are they controlled?

Are they wi-fi enabled? Otherwise, how are they controlled? Yes, they're WiFi enabled. The only thing to remember is that they (and every other 'smart' device I' ve got) only work on the 2.4Ghz band, so if you're using dual-band WiFi you need to turn off the 5Ghz band while connecting them to the network otherwise bugger-all happens.

I ended up buying 4 more of these... when they were in Amazon's sale, and I just thought I'd drop a quick post about simple to use they are. Setup goes like this... (I'm using the "TuyaSmart" android app, btw, as I've already got it controlling other stuff, rather than the one suggested in the Chinglish instructions. Tuya is pretty robust, and I'd recommend it.) 1: Plug your bulb in.2: Switch it off-and-on three times and it will start to flash, there is a slight pause between the third "on" and the bulb beginning to flash, so wait for it.3: Open the Tuya app on your phone/tablet and hit the + to add a device and go to Smart Lighting>Lighting Devices. Verify that the bulb is flashing and Tuya should then find it, register it, and initialise it. 4: Once that's done, rename your bulb to whatever you choose and close Tuya
If you only want to control it from your phone/tablet, that's all you need to do. For Alexa integration... 5: Open Alexa> Smart Home> Devices, (I do this on the PC) and click Discover. Alexa should discover it, although you may need to refresh your browser after discovery for it to show up. Done. You can now operate your bulb(s) via your phone, tablet, or voice command via Alexa. The brightness can be varied between 0% and 100% and the colour temperature between 2700K and 6500K. You can also schedule your bulb(s) to switch on and off automatically. All-in-all it takes less time to set one up than it did to type this, and I'm not that bad a typist. I don't know if this post will be of any use to anyone, but if you're considering getting smart bulbs I hope this might help you to make up your mind.

Will wait awhile for yours to be guaranteed perfect, and not until the nights draw in at the earliest
