I am choosing an album that will be difficult for most people here. Zero Hour was a band based in California This is probably there most popular album and its about as Heavy as I can handle my music. Be warned at times this album is brutal and can be dissonant at times, which works well with it dark Science Fiction storyline.
I became a big fan and got to know Jasun and Troy. The twin brothers who play Guitar and bass. The band split a few years ago as Troy had a hand injury that stopped him playing the ultra-technical bass lines on the album
I saw them live twice the first time with this line up from this album, if you look carefully you might see me at their Headway video in Holland recorded from the second time I saw them
For me, the highlight of the album is the epic Demise and Vestige when the crazy guitar solo comes midway through the track. Most of the tracks start quite dissonant and then build. The vocalist has that mid-range Ronnie James Dio feel which I prefer to the high pitched vocals that often associated with this type of bands.

Listening now on the computer and will try Demise and Vestige tomorrow on the big rig. I'm not hopeful!

It's hard listening With Demise and Vestige you have to get past the brutality of the first few minutes. When the vocals come it does settle down and becomes a lot less intense. Wanted to put something more challenging
Its major issue is it to compressed so the brutality on systems like Martin or mine can be just too brutal

Will start listening a bit later on today. I am no great fan of really heavy metal so we'll see how I get on.

It's a bit... relentless. The opening is very brutal on my system as you predicted, John.
Vocals are much better and go against the general genre's tendency for silly demonic voices (only Ozzy is allowed to do that). The guitars have all the subtlety of a piledriver.
It's powerful, and there are moments of relief, but in all honesty it's not for me.

I guess I am hoping for just one person to get why I love the energy of the band. But know it might be a stretch! Jasun is a really nice guy, no rock bullshit and just a pleasure to be with. But yes he does like to burn. He actually has a solo album called Seduction that is a million miles away from a heavy vibe. He goes down a more Pat Metheny vibe

4/ 5 from me. Much more musical than I was expecting. The musicianship is excellent, and I even found myself listening to some of their "A Fragile Mind" album afterwards. Truth be told, if we were judging out of ten then I'd have given it seven. Not something I'd buy, but I enjoyed the experience of hearing something new to me.

Bit like Paul on this one, I liked it more than I had expected. This has a melody, whereas I find a lot of the really heavy stuff is just a bunch of blokes screaming down a microphone. Not sure I would go as far as a 4/5, but am happy with 3/5.

Dammit John boy - I’m very surprised. I’m an old-school metal guy as you know by now but ’I quite enjoy this’ - listened from start to finish and have saved for another listen. I can imagine you cranking this on your system - should have played me some last visit! Not really into ‘operatic’ Dio-esque sword ’n sorcery vocals as typified by the final track - I’m an Ozzy man as you know John … Love the first 3 mins of ‘Stratagem’ till the vocals come in … But doesn’t ruin it as the musicianship is excellent. That change of pace at 4-51 is so cool! And I even like his vocals there … I also like his vocals on ‘Reflections'. Maybe he is going to grow on me after all … Top notch rhythm section, some of those bass lines are well out there. I thought the super crunchy “nu metal” production would grate with me but kind of got into it … I get some strong hints of like a much heavier version of Rush at times in some of the instrumental breaks, so that’s obviously a good thing. Definitely an influence. ‘Demise and Vestige' - epic title, epic tune. OMG!!! Just so many great moments in this track - going to rock it on the ‘big rig’ tomorrow - the neighbours better be out. The final track is the only let down but great job John - actually in the general scheme of things I am really into this and am upping score to a 5.
