Hi,
I like to listen to Radio Paradise flac streams and occasionally Spotify as well as ripped CDs including prog. rock, Americana, folk and folk rock, cuban, jazz-rock, some classical etc.
I have an digital music chain with a rpi3B+/Allo DigiOne with picoreplayer/LMS feeding a Beresford Caiman SEG (Dorado), a passive pre-amp and then four Temple Audio monoblocks feeding my B&W 804 speakers. All of this is battery powered except the Dorado. Cabling is Sommer Carbokab 225 interconnects and Van Damme Black speaker cables.
My aim is to get great sound quality without massive outlays and needing more than basic soldering skills... So far in my 40+ year hifi journey, upgrading the source has always made by far the biggest difference, taking inspiration from the audio enthusiasts on fora like this one.
Cheers
Alastair

Hi Alastair and welcome to The Audio Standard! It sounds like you are doing quite well in the bang for buck part of your hi-fi mission. I look forward to hearing more about it.

Hi Alastair, nice build there and I agree with Chris that you have mighty bang for your buck. I'm listening with my own DigiOne and it's an exceptional piece of equipment.
Never heard of Sommer cables, do tell us more.

I used to live in Great Bedwyn before moving 'up north'. If the choice of accessible hifi dealers is still as good as it used to be, I envy you !

Thanks to everyone for their welcome. For Martin: Sommer cables are made in Germany. I have the Carbokab 225 (see www.thomann.de/gb/sommer_cable_carbokab_225.htm). As you can see they are inexpensive but more neutral sounding (less bright) than the Van Damme silver plated cables I had used previously. I made-up three pairs of these.
