Inspired by Martin and Jules conversation in the classical music section
What music would you want played for your funeral Keep it to 3 if you can and perhaps some thinking of why you want it played
My first choice is Jimmy Hendrix Castles Made of Sand It reminds me everything fades eventually
Next up is Jordan Rudes and John Petrucci My main thinking hear is I want something I find beautiful
Last but not least is a bit of my humour coming through

A section from Durufle's Requiem. I want my friends and family to hear some beauty when I sign out.
I had a soprano friend perform Richard Strauss' Beim Schlafengehen at my wife's funeral. I'd recommend it only if you have lots of Kleenex available.

If I died tomorrow then this, though not this recording - I much prefer the one included the Glass Box set.

As the mourners enter... The Green Fields of France - The Furies and Davy Arthur
During service... Mahler's 5th - Adagietto (4th movement)
As the mourners leave... Dire Straits - Sultans of Swing.

I don't 'believe' in funerals. They seem daft to me. Wifey can do whatever she wants if I expire first - I shan't care!
A friend of ours came down with terminal cancer and he spent the last 18 months of his life planning his own funeral, it was the only thing that seemed to interest him. What a waste of his last 18 months.

What a waste of his last 18 months. I'm 100% in agreement. My next door neighbour passed away on the Thursday after Christmas. No funeral - unattended service, the company picks up the body, cremates it, and returns the ashes. His wife already has hers prepaid, for about half the cost of a "normal" funeral. I'd rather my family had whatever money I've got left when I pop my clogs than some bugger in a black suit who I've never met and who is being paid to tell lies about what a nice bloke I was.

What a waste of his last 18 months. I completely agree. I shall spend all of my life being happy that I'm alive. I won't care about anything once I've croaked!

I like the Irish tradition of a wake I used to volunteer for CRUSE as a Counselor and often funerals are a important part of the grieving process for family members. For myself just want my ashes spread in the earth

This is a very apt thread for our family as my mother-in-law died suddenly in December and we were debating this exact thing for her funeral that took place in early January.
In the end, my wife decided upon Queen - Who Wants To Live Forever as the closing song for the funeral after quite a lot of toing and froing as she was worried it might be seen as inappropriate.
The song was a fitting tribute to my mother-in-law and we found out that it is a commonly chosen song for funerals too.
