I was talking to my mum on the phone this morning and she made a passing remark to the effect that "at least she didn't get woken up by fireworks this year," and thinking about it, I didn't hear any either. Usually, in fact, every year that I can remember, it has sounded like ten-minutes of a very bad night in Syria. I was up and awake, and I was chatting on the phone with my step-son after he rang not long after midnight.
Not a sausage this year. Nary a 'banger' to be heard, nor the 'whoosh' of a rocket. Other than the extortionate price of fireworks I have no rational explanation. I am genuinely puzzled.

We had an episode around 10pm then quiet until, 12. 5 minutes of loud bangs and no more Useful it has become so much less than a few years ago
