On a recent trip to the hilly part of Netherlands - yes, there is such an area - I came across this scene in Valkenburg, one which just keeps giving. Of course I was initially struck by the perspective and geometry... Honestly. OK, you've all zoomed in on the intriguing figure on the bridge... But then there's this tableau on the following bridge...

I recall a visit to Valkenburg as a teenager, a day trip with the family of a school friend I was staying with. They lived in a nearby town and, like you, I had been fooled by tales of a flat Holland and spent a week wondering why cycling was so difficult!

Really nice.
I read today that they intend to stop promoting Netherlands as a tourist destination as they are struggling to cope with some of the less wanted effects of too many visitors, or at least try to encourage punters to go to lesser known towns and areas ...

Garstang Colour Dash - a 5k charity run in a white T-shirt, with way-stations where they pelt you with paint powder. The end result being hundreds of people looking like this...

There was a lot of action so I set the phasers to burst mode. A lot of the time I was using a fast 35mm lens and it was extremely bright. Honest, it just went off in my hand yer honour! The strategy worked and there are a lot of really great shots. The two above are just the merest suggestion of what I captured.

Nice action captured there - I'd never heard of that race but it looks fun.
I remember those Sony ads, Jules. They were high art at the time.

Absolutely Martin. I don't pay much attention to advertising now but when I was making films I remember there were some superb Sony ads back then. Huge budgets of course.

An absolutely baking day yesterday in Canterbury but really enjoyed walking round the ruins of St Augustine's Abbey. Took this on the mobile phone camera.
