Lovely - it wasn't dissimilar around here this morning, but didn't last long.

It's still white here, and still snowing a little - starting to slowly thaw. Crashes as ice falls off trees onto the conservatory roof!

Just beautiful again.
London is horribly flat and grey today in comparison.

Is there no way to load an image directly to this forum, only to link to one?

Is there no way to load an image directly to this forum, only to link to one? That's correct. I use the simple, and free imgbb.com/

Is there no way to load an image directly to this forum, only to link to one? Because this is essentially a free forum (apart from some annual charges to us), and additional storage is charged to us, we can't host images here. However, there are plenty of host photo sites, such as Flickr and the one Paul quotes, that let you upload there and reproduce here. If you have your own website, you can also link your photos here. Another trick is to use the TapaTalk forum app and use that to host photos here.

A frosty, misty walk this morning with the snow-clad Brecon Beacons in the distance

Very nice - I know you prefer lower rez in your system nowadays but do you have a higher rez copy of this so we can appreciate the countryside in its full glory?

OK, here it is at max rez. (About 1 meg compared to .6) Not a lot of difference, those Brecon Beacons are a long way away and the photo is zoomed in to the max on a hand held phone and then cropped!

Well that explains it!
Must be the digital zoom and phone processing wreaking havoc on the beautiful countryside ...
Thanks for the upload anyway.

I thought it looked pretty good on the full screen on my laptop!

The landscapes earlier in this thread where you are using a wide-angle lens look utterly awesome Jerry for phone shots in terms of detail, resolution and handling of light. When you go for a mega-zoom shot and then crop it, most of this gets lost as the phone isn't capable of delivering what you really need for this. They end up looking overly processed with digital artefacts. Of course this is really only going to show up when you look at large photos and on a good monitor like I'm doing now - my phone doesn't really show this at all. With the photos you take and those stunning landscapes, you should go out with a nice little Leica in your pocket!

Nawww, I'm not going to obsess about photos!
I've quite a good eye for setting a scene, and am quite surprised how well some of the pics come out from a humble phone.
