It spurred me to investigate Android for x86 tablets and I installed it onto one of my Dell Venue 11 tablets. It worked so well that I'm using it to control Spotify and type this now. If anyone is interested in rescuing an old tablet computer, see here for Android builds for Intel x86 computers. My Venue 11 is like a new Android tablet.

Ok, well first of all it should be a tablet with a touch screen as Android is not really suitable for a standard keyboard/mouse oriented laptop. Think of it more as a phone OS. The Dell Venue 11 Pro I am using is from 2014 and I am going to try it on a Toshiba Encore 8 Windows tablet from even earlier.
What does it do better? Android is lightweight so everything runs more smoothly and faster. Also, it's not as CPU intensive so battery life is improved. I run mine with the display brightness set way down as my music room is not brightly lit. When all's said and done, indications are that I'll get more like 4 hours' use out of it rather than the 2 hours when running Windows 10.
Since the only things I need are Spotify and browser, it does everything I want from it. It will run Office apps like Outlook and Word, too, so I can add them in if needed. Android x86 is therefore a wonderful way to give an old tablet a new lease of life.

Don't you wish you'd just bought Android tablets in the first place, Martin, like the rest of the world? Hah! No, I love my Surface Pro with full blown Windows 10. It's my work tool (I'm using it now), I do all of my IT administration with it, including managing the MIS database system, it goes with me everywhere and does everything that a desktop computer can do. An Android tablet simply could not even get close. However, my needs at home are different. An Android tablet for the music room makes a lot of sense and I like my Android phone very much after a period of transition. By the way, the Dell tablet was surplus to requirements at work, I didn't buy it
