I watched the coverage of the landing live - nail-biting stuff! What an astonishing feat of science and engineering. Fingers crossed that all of the gizmos work that will deploy the science gear onto the surface. First decent pic from the lander ....

I suspect that one of the major achievements of the entire mission in terms of impact on the future has happened already, and was the successful deployment and use of the cube-sats used in this instance to relay real-time data of the descent of the Insight lander. A new era of (relatively) low cost and low risk interplanetary scientific data gathering has been initiated! www.jpl.nasa.gov/cubesat/missions/marco.php

It's amazing, I forgot to watch it live but watched the video later.
Been to Kennedy Space Centre in Florida a couple of times and it's awe inspiring to see what they achieved in what looked like washing machine drums and big jet engines.
When you stand and watch a simulated takeoff from within the control centre, brilliant.

Fantastic that they got it down in one piece. I always think of the failed Beagle 2 probe - so much time, money and effort all gone in a bang. Great that this one is ready for service.

There's a full Saturn V lifter in Houston laying on its side. When you look at it up close and remember that three guys rode the top of it, it's more than just jaw dropping.

One of my pet hates is the number of times amazing pictures are shown without bothering to say that they're 'tweaked' or in worst cases just cgi...

Composites are ok, CGI are a cheat!
