Grieg: Complete Lyric Pieces.
Let's see how long it takes me to find the encore I heard the other week.

Shazam is very specific to recordings, Soundhound can often identify even from a whistled tune.
Of course, you would now have to go back in time with it...

Sadly I can't remember the precise tune Martin!
If anyone would like a fine example of the Lyric Pieces, here are two to enjoy - one dramatic, one emotional. It's an excellent performance by this 74 year old Norwegian pianist. I'd happily take a weekend in Oslo and a recital!!

...The Oslo Philharmonic aren't half bad, either!

Cracking idea Martin.
Saw them do an amazing Shosta 10 a few years back at the Barbican. Love to go back to Oslo, was last there over 50 years ago!

Never been there, Jules. Stockholm is the closest I've been.

I've never been to Stockholm but would love to go there and further afield in Sweden.
I'm determined to see some concerts when visiting European cities in the future.

I've listened to the entire Lyric Pieces and can't find that damn encore. I'm not listening again!
Inspector Clouseau will put Plan B into immediate operation.

New ep from the excellent contemporary harpist, Lavinia Meijer.
First track co-written with Philip Glass and the last one written by Ryuichi Sakamoto.

The Rachmaninov 3rd piano concerto with Tamas Vasary really is very fine.

Very recently released, this is an amazing Goldberg Variations by Vikingur Olafsson.

Very recently released, this is an amazing Goldberg Variations by Vikingur Olafsson. Yes, a quick listen on my tablet suggests I need a longer listen on the 'big rig'. I have dismissed so many Goldbergs and still keep coming back to Murray Perahia (and Gould for the frisson).

Langgaard 1st symphony. It's very good, way better than the further 15 that followed imo. He got a bit weird. Could you recommend a recording please Jerry?

... Yes, I think I've been a bit hard on dear old Rued Langgaard's symphonies. Listening this morning to symphonies 2,6 & 14, I enjoyed 6 & 14 quite a lot! Still, my original post had the desirable effect of checking them out again. 12 more to go.

I moved the above talk about Langgaard here as more appropriate.

I moved the above talk about Langgaard here as more appropriate. Then again, it might have tweaked the interest of non-classical bods to have a listen. Probably not.

Then again, it might have tweaked the interest of non-classical bods to have a listen. If you could find the magic words to encourage members to listen to Classical Album Choice or what we're listening to here, I would make a very special award icon just for you!!
