which antivirus are you using,is the av company any good,do they help you if ever you have a problem.i use this.very good program and amazing customer service A+

In case of any doubt, every machine whether Windows, Mac or Linux, needs anti-virus software in order to stay safe. Don't believe any cobblers like "Macs don't get viruses" as I can prove that they do. Also, it's strongly advisable to use AV for Android phones. In this case, I use AVG.
Remember also that almost all Intel and some AMD CPUs have vulnerabilities like Meltdown, Spectre and Foreshadow. These are CPU problems irrespective of the OS platform. You may need to check your version of BIOS/system firmware as well as applying all OS updates.

Good stuff, Jules. We have some students with Macs that have been chock full of viruses and running like a snail. With all sorts of odd behaviour, too.
I've even had one on my phone, proving that Android can get hit, too.

It's automatic for me to put anti-virus software on any new device I acquire. AVG is free and easily available for Android for instance. The only exception is my Chromebook which genuinely doesn't require it, due in part to something called process isolation. Also, most of Chrome's files are cloud-based, ao there's very little to actually infect on your machine itself anyway. Dodgy apps might be a problem, but as long as you download from a reputable source, such as Chrome's own Web Store, and remember to check what 'permissions' the app is asking for, a Chromebook is as safe as safe can get these days. Other than that, ALWAYS use strong passwords (I use LastPAss software which syncs, via the Chrome browser, across all of my devices) and if your bank allows it, use Chrome incognito mode when doing online banking. That gives an extra layer of protection because it disables your extensions by default. I was always a Firefox advocate, but these days Chrome is, in my opinion, the safest all-around cross-platform browser out there. |

eset is not full of bloatware,you can get it a lot cheaper on ebay ,less than half that price and you can speak to a real techie is you need them,ive used it for years now.not a single problem,they will even set everything up for you and it does not slow your pc down,had defender but preferred eset,customer service A+
