OK Alan understand a price thing, however a true TXCO require two supplies one for the oven one for the clock, and they need to be totally separate otherwise it can go the other way quite rapidly, just use a low phase noise clock and make sure you have tight regulation supplying it (separate supply if possible). You are thinking of an OCXO, which has one extra pin for the extra power supply.

Supercaps may have a good reserve but their RCR and ESR is poor and in clock situations I would looking for a different solution or a combination, also not all super caps are the same imho Since I am taking the 15V feed for the Tentlabs module straight from the switch (and therefore the supercap PSU), what would you recommend for a good decoupling cap to place there?

I received my TCXO clock today. I am looking forward to soldering it in over the weekend. I'll probably remove the supercap bank from inside my DAC and use a Dorado instead now that I have stock.

Personally I don't expect to hear any difference between it and the less expensive version.

That could be - what we're sensitive to is regular timing free from jitter. Long term accuracy or drift, which an oven is there for, are unlikely to be detectable.

There have been valid reasons for my silence since receiving my SEG.
Firstly, end of year school reports due soon (25 students).
Secondly - and more importantly - I have a minor issue with the SEG. Cannot therefore give my impressions at all. Getting it looked at.
So... I have not been rude; asking your advice, taking up your time, using your expertise, and then disappearing without any form of gratitude. That will come in due course. No, actually. A very big thank you for even getting me to this point.
Have swapped back to my Bushmaster II with Dorado. Enjoying that very much in the evenings.

Sorry to hear that, Brett. What's the minor issue with the SEG?
