Nice getting to compare the two.
Stan says the new SEGs ship with the latest firmware SEG-11.
The second SEG still sounds good though?

whats the difference between GFU10 and SEG11 firmware? I asked Stan that question "Re firmware, I can't tell offhand. I don't keep notes on minor changes if it isn't sound related."

Nice work, Tony. It's smaller than the Tentlabs module. is that a surface mount crystal?

Hi Martin
As you can see by the four pads originally designed for the first gen SMT clocks, however we have since found a more suitable phase accurate clock.
The footprint is useful in great many applications, as you can see it fits very nicely in the SEG space allowing very small length twisted pair clock output connections to the board.
I believe Stan has kindly produced a firmware chip which will make better use of an upgraded clock fitment, the model number SEG22

It's £10 plus VAT if ordered with my supercap PSU, or £15 plus VAT and postage if ordered on its own." I have one on order too

In fact my GFU-10 firmware has enhanced XTAL processing as a mode, which I decided is the best sounding mode with the superclock. The SEG-22 apparently takes that further.

Is the supercap PSU available now? I am going through the UK and EU waiting list to see who is still interested, and then sort them out with an invoice and ship their order. No doubt in due time some of them will post their impression of the unit, which is called Dorado. But there is the complication that there is also an updated SEG (two actually) with customers. Both of the guys are currently running DAC and Supercap PSU together, and I am waiting for them to come back to me with any info as to whether the updated SEG is better sounding or not. There are less than 5 pieces left over right now, but more will be available in the next two weeks.
I am off the grid for the next thirty hours or so unless I come across an internet connection this evening. So any replies will take a while.

I thought I was on the list. It's a long list and I wait for 24 hours before moving to the next person on the list if I get no reply.

I just updated to the latest firmware Stan has made. A really nice upgrade for very little money. The sound has more snap and body Everything is more solid in the mix I had the 7 chip before and this is certainly a upgrade in sound. Stan has also changed the switching but I let Stan explain that
