It can't just be me, surely?
I wanted to add to the "The TV Drama Thread" thread, so I typed "Drama" into the search window, hit enter, and it came back with five pages. The thread I required was on (you guessed it) the fifth page. It was also the only result that actually contained the word "Drama." This happens all the time.
Sometimes I will type a word which I know is a part of the title of a thread I'm looking for and get no results returned at all. I then type another word from the thread I'm trying to find and up pop sixteen pages and somewhere amongst them is the thread I'm looking for, but nowhere near the start and 99% of the rest of the results bear no relation to what I'm looking for and have typed in.
It's more like a lucky dip than a search facility.

I've had some 'features' I thought were only applicable to me.
Search can be odd.
I nearly always search on threads only

I try the overall search and search on threads. The latter tends to be more successful but sometimes, like you, I've got to do some hunting for it. Not the best search engine out there, I'll agree.

I would agree that the word 'crap' is appropriate in this instance!

It reminds me of this:

I think the search facility works just fine. It would help if folks bothered learning how to use the thing

I used "cock" as a search term, and it brought up a shedload of Tony's cock wombling comments, so search looks to work fine from here. Which means it has to be a user issue.

Did you try the search I detailed in my original post?

"Voda" did the same - shedloads on Tony's cockwombling comments.
Smelling pistakes would be problematic (although in this case they're not spelling mistakes, as it's a Spoonerism). Schennanigans brings up nothing, coz (a) it's a misspelled word (b) nobody here has misspelled it yet. Shenanigans does bring up plenty of incidences.

I did do a search using drama as the search term, and it came up instantaneously with 50 pages of everywhere in the forum those four letters arranged in that order appear, so there's nowt wrong with the search facility.
In answer to your question, yes it is you.
If you had put TV as a search it would have taken you straight to the TV Drama thread, and before you respond that the search doesn't support 2 character searches take note that I typed "TV " (I hit the space bar after typing TV) and then did a search, and it took me straight to the TV Drama thread.
The issue is a user issue.

It does not search on thread titles first. There is no separate option to search only thread titles. If it was searching on titles first "Drama" would be at the top of the list, not buried 5 pages down.
I've set up enough databases in the past, and written enough SQL, to feel perfectly justified in calling it crap.

I can search and find what I want.
Sometimes I cannot find what I want with Search. If I give the time I cant trawl through page after page

I don't know about the search, but this thread is highly entertaining!

I picked up my new specs yesterday, otherwise I'd have probably missed that box.

To be fair to Paul, search seems variable from one use to the next. Sometimes an obvious keyword cannot be found when I can see it right there.
