Very rare do I get involved in politics, as in religion it often leads to conflict. But this was just to unbelievable not to mention This morning while waiting in line at the post office, a gentleman in front on me smartly dressed, was wishing to set a money order to eastern Europe greater than £800 which turned out to be ( His usual weekly BENEFIT send home to his wife!)His benefits have just been upped to £1070 PER week, the clerk explained he would need two forms of ID have to go online and complete a form to achieve this, his response "Can I just not have my benefit paid direct to my wife back home!" Makes you really wonder does it not as to why this once half decent country of our is royal screwed

I find it difficult to believe that a man, living alone (married or not,) is entitled to £55,640.00 p.a. benefits.
You actually heard him state that he was now receiving £1070.00 per week?

This sort of thing fans the fires of far right groups and extremism. When people have paid taxes, contributions every pay day of their lives its hard not to be alarmed and angry with a non-citizen who has not! My mother in law, who will be 98y.o. on Monday, struggles with her pension, which she contributed towards, and to obtain care assistance.
It should be a requirement, as of law, that dependents are domiciled with their spouse and live in this country otherwise how do we know that it is not a fake and fraudulent claim? And what control do we have? This is going the same way as bogus marriages?

Hi Paul I did a double take when he mentioned the figures, however he had with him his Money-gram payment card/account and the clerk confirmed the previous regular amount was £800 per week, apparently some new regulations have just taken affect relation to payments over £800 per week hence why his visit to the P.O. Let us say I was not the only person in the queue that was listening intently! I agree with JB on certain quarters using these types of instances to stir up trouble, for me this was just a moment. If the chap was working full time and sending this amount back home no problem at all. One of my previous business was a debt collection agency and we were employed by many different companies and this type of instance is not as arare as you may feel.

Please don't think I was calling you a liar (or a bit deaf ) but being able to claim that amount of money in inconceivable to me. I cannot understand what specific circumstances one would have to claim to receive that much, especially if he's an EEA national.

Hi Paul
I completely agree with you, however I could mention how new acquired citizens to UK have cars purchased for them as well as supporting 4-8 children plus the associated benefits, housing child support, family credit etc that go with this via the DPP.
Clarification is required I would agree as we do not know the complete circumstances, but it was quite an entertaining conversation to be party to.
