I know there are a few Mark Kermode fans here, so I hope you're all enjoying his Secrets of Cinema series as much as I am. I'm doubly happy that he's saving the best until last, too. Science Fiction this week, and in next weeks final episode his self-proclaimed favourite genre, Horror. The last episode will be even better (I hope) for the input of Kermode's series co-scriptwriter, Kim Newman, a horror writer of some note himself. Newman also turned up, if I remember correctly, in Mark Gatiss's 3-part TV series, "A History of Horror," which you can still find on YouTube, and which I wholeheartedly recommend. A History of Horror pt.1A History of Horror pt.2A History of Horror pt.3If you ever wondered about Kermode's style of dress, and his hair, by the way? He's been at it a while. Spot the guy with the broomstick bass.

I would love to watch his Secrets of Cinema series, but unfortunately it's only on the BBC as far as I can see at the moment Hey ho, them's the breaks.

The whole series (yes, even the rom-com one) proved very worthwhile watching. I personally enjoyed the SF one the most.

So often found myself thinking Yes, I know that The horror one was the most educational but I'm no horror fan

The "Horror" show was my favourite. I found myself finishing Mr. Kermode's sentences more than once, but he still made things that I already knew fresh, and interesting.
