I am baffled by your UI comments, Martin, what Qobuz presents to me is perfectly usable and informative. What issues do you have? I didn't like the search and the Qobuz Connect was difficult to get to work reliably. This is the Windows UI, it could be different on other platforms.

Sound quality is better than Spotify (I'm using the 16/44.1 flac service), there's no doubt about that.
Not for me, but we've been here already. It isn't that Qobuz isn't good, it's superb. For me, though, Spotify is equally superb. We're all so caught up in hating compressed formats (me too) that it's hard to get our heads around it. However, I report what I hear.

"It could be different" seems an understatement. It seems to me that everyone has a different UI! - and that can quite fundamentally change your perspective on its usability.
And it seems that the sq can also be dependent on your setup.
This makes the whole thing entirely personal and one person's experience quite irrelevant to another person's!

This makes the whole thing entirely personal and one person's experience quite irrelevant to another person's! I agree completely. Our setups are especially different and I can only say that I tend to sit with the Windows Spotify interface and select music via Spotify Connect, rather than use the MyVolumio interface. In this respect, Qobuz didn't work nicely for me. As for sound quality, it's even more apparent that different members are reporting different experiences. I'll leave John to confirm what he heard at mine last Saturday.

Have managed to contradict myself yet again. Had said 'never' to using a streaming service.
Just signed up to Tidal Hifi for 3 months, at $2.99. Not planning on keeping it past that date.
May find my family uses it more than I do. Will certainly open my listening options. And find a song/artist I like, to explore their other music.
No way of downloading off Tidal I suspect.

I'm still the same. I prefer Tidal hifi (and there is a download function) and keep up my Spotify.

I've been dabbling with Spotify and Tidal through a pimped up Google Chromecast Audio (optical Spdif). Tidal is the winner but as I cleaned up the power supply, used a Lan connection instead of WiFi and gave the routers linear power it's much closer.. what is it with Spotify and the equipment in the chain?
I have tried to get a RPi3 to play nicely using I2S into my DAC but thus far failed! It's potential is very good but there have been bad side affects on some tracks. The Hifiberry Spdif board is too low-fi to compete with ChromeCast Audio.
If I can't get RPi I2S to work then Allo's Digi one or signature could be the answer..

.. what is it with Spotify and the equipment in the chain? One possibility is that the CPU has more work to do decompressing the Ogg stream compared with a PCM stream. This could be why it is so sensitive to the clock and timing in general. Every modification I have made to timing, either directly or indirectly, has improved Spotify playback... - DigiOne from HiFiBerry Digi+ - Splitting the DigiOne +5V power rails - Coherent QP-1 power supply - Black Cat Silverstar 75 S/PDIF cable from 1694A - SEG-30 firmware in Caiman SEG - Tentlabs superclock in SEG - SGS-1 grounding box to Pi and SEG grounds - General noise reduction

I use Tidal. Though it isn't famous and popular as other streaming services, I like the high audio quality it offers. By the way, like most music services, Tidal also doesn't allow users to use Tidal music easily. Luckily, I found a program that can fix this issue. If you want to use Tidal music by your own on other devices, then you can give a try to LINK REMOVED. It can help you change the audio formats of Tidal music and save them as local audio files on your computer. Then you can use them with ease.
MOD: we don't encourage breaking streaming service agreements. This is your first post: please don't do it again.
