Right, what I'm imagining is beaming/casting to a chromecast which is plugged into my amp with 2 rca. This chromecast would have an outboard DAC fitted by mini toslink to make it sound better. The dac thing should cost about £60 ideally
Is that too much to ask?

You'll want to go Chromecast===> DAC===> Amp Chris. I'll let the others chime in, but I think this would probably suit you for the DAC SMSL M3I don't know enough about the Chromecast Audio to understand how you get your music services to it though. I sort of assume it's just all on the same network and you control it from your phone, etc.

Got the Chromecast Audio today and it's excellent.
The musics deeper and a bit more pronounced than with bt - more detail too.
Delighted.

Good stuff, Chris. What DAC did you decide on in the end?

I'm just using the Chromecast as is just now Slinger, see how it sounds. I'm thinkng one of the Topping or SMSL DACS but there's no rush.

There are quite a few of us here who love SMSL kit. I don't know how much you intend spending, but if you can budget for a cheapo (50 quid-ish from China) linear power supply you'll notice quite a difference from just the DAC alone.
