9 hours of phonostages, yello, Patti griffin, Stevie ray Vaughan, nils Lofgren, Maria callas, roger waters, john lee Booker, Stevie nicks and several others The cure for post bake-off track aversion is to play the entire album the track came off in its entirety. Nice to see you there, Si.

Didn't realise you were there Strat! Hopefully see you there another time. It's a long way from London but I would definitely like to attend a future meeting. I overheard Colin inviting you over to his gaff, and he's just down the road from me - give me a shout as and when you take him up on it. If I can organise things to be there I'll be there too. Sounds like a good plan to me! Hope to arrange this next time I come to Manchester ...

Good day and thanks to everyone who turned up.
Suggestions for content on the next one welcomed, won't be cables or fuses though.

How about DACs?

An entertaining get-together to listen to some gear without any forum bollocks, then. Any real surprise? We're credentials asked for? Would me Rubert The Bear Appreciation Society Life Time Membership have sufficed? Verifed, naturally, with authentic RTBAS trousers:

Aaaah, golf. The only sport where a middle-aged white man from Surbiton can dress like a 1970's black pimp from San Francisco and get away with it.

Everyone brings their particular apparatus. I love my new phone and have been surprised at the vocal detail never heard before with it on music videos and mp3 files.

Nice to read about the day and without any subsequent agenda driven dissing of other manufacturers equipment, perhaps not all that surprising tho!

Personal audio could be a goody or maybe speakers? I'm up for it either way.
And that NVA of yours needs a re-run David, apparently it has adjustable gain on the inside of the case.

No agenda, no aggro, no attitudes, exactly as a bake-off should be.
It really was worth making an effort to attend.

That's a shame about the NVA, I really wanted to see what it could do. Speakers would be great. I was disappointed to miss the Edingdales at the end of the session ..

Surely one is supposed to send it back to the manufacturer to have the gain adjusted? As far as I’m aware you have to change a resistor, or two, rather than move jumpers or twiddle a pot. ————— I don’t have any portable audio - well, I have a mobile phone but I never use it to listen to music. On the other hand, I don’t own a DAC either .

DAC's would be interesting but not sure I could tolerate 6+ hours of digitally delivered music.
I would much prefer a day listening to reel to reel on my Studer.
Portable audio I never got it, not for me, headphones, nah never use any.
Amps may be useful, speakers not really any good as my room is too big for most of the domestic models.
If we do DAC's I would like to hear Stan's offering with his PSU.

If it's a date I could make then I would bring the SEG and supercap PSU.

Sony and millions the world over did/have. The headphone market must be be pretty lucrative as they're seen as a fashion accessory as much as anything now.

I am not really sure that it's about products for the masses, is it? Most people who hear a well set up reel to reel for the first time are shocked how good it sounds.

Well yes. That's why I said it would be an experience though. I doubt though that someone hearing one and being impressed would then follow it up with the purchase of one, as might be the case with an amp/speakers/DAC/headphones etc. But it could be a informative listen.

Well, surely that's how everyone who owns one ended up buying one? Me included.

I wouldn't like to say that everyone who owns a reel-to-reel does so by virtue of hearing one at a bakeoff - but then maybe it's true.
