My family have polar blood in their veins - it's one of the main reasons I do what I do. These are not my pics but from a family member who was based at Casey Station Antarctica. I'm just sharing a few so as not to bore you. I hope you all like these. Aurora Australius Fancy a dip? And to to add a humorous note here's a seal having a pish.

Cheers gents. I will dig out a couple more when Im home. Told him to make a book out them but hes far too modest for that. Him and his pals used to have contests to see who could get their teams football shirts on penguins. On the quiet of course as the scientists went bonkers about it! He would also take himself off camping in -30degrees so Ive some cracking cold weather kit reviews if anyones interested!
He did a year there, went off to the Galapagos, and now lives on Flinders Island on Tasmania. Brilliant life from a lad brought up in Edinburgh and Kinross. His younger brother was down that way as well.
Needless to say Im very proud of both of them and glad I had a little influence in their younger lives.

I had travelling knocked into me as a boy, way more than most of my friends at the time. I got to know Bristol Britannias, Super VC10s, Caravelles and BAC-111s very well!
EDIT: oh, and Tridents.
2nd EDIT: and the Fairsky and Ellinis ships.

My wife has a thing about the Aurora Borealis. She has dozens of screen savers, she will no doubt, add this one. I avoid boats and water like the plague. My monthly shower is one thing but I can't swim so any more than a few litres scare the hell out of me

Too right! Although,to be a picky twat, mine wasn't a RIB. Mine had slatted aluminium floorboards which meant the whole lot could be rolled up and put into the back of an Astra van with the engine alongside. This is what I had - Avon Combat Rapid Raiding Craft (CRRC) 520; Great bit of kit and no need for a trailer! And just for more pedantry - nodrog due to it being the Southern Hemisphere it's the Aurora Australis. Right that's it,I'm going to stop being a dick now. Glad you all like the pics and this post.
