Steady on boys. I don't want to have to get a moderator in here because of the baggage you're bringing from oth...oh...wait...never mind. It's replacing an Arcam A75 that replaced my cheapo Chinese setup that replaced my Arcam 8+8p, Martin.

It's beautifully built, massive transformer, short signal paths and it's boxed in great nick. You seem to have got a bargain. You sure you're not an experienced box-swapper on the quiet? You seem to have got an awful lot right Well done and I hope it brings you loads of happiness. Once others read about your experience, it pretty much giarantees ten next one that comes up will go for more

Having overspent and now bought the matching CD21 "Reference CD Player," and taking in to account how pleased I am already with the amp, and with the new speaker cable on its way too, I have a very odd feeling. I believe it reminds me of excitement.

I thought I might as well tack this on the end of an existing post rather than start a new one just to extol the virtues of a product, especially when the product is a cable; we know how that goes, don't we? In actual fact, I'm not really going to "big-up" a product I'm just going to express my satisfaction, for several reasons. The cable(s) concerned are Klotz AC110 with Neutrik Reans at the end. Not high-end, but a perfectly serviceable cable, and with what I've spent recently, within my budget. The extra points are awarded for the cables being hand-made so they are available from 15cm (visible cable) to 1m, in 5cm increments. From 1m to 3m they are in 10cm increments. It's really useful being able to specify more precise lengths than those that are more usually available. The maker also gets a gold star for delivery, which is free, and my new cables have just arrived by Royal Mail 1 st class 'Signed For' delivery. Yes, I could have made my own, but I've got problems with my hands that make that impossible at the moment, so thanks very much to Ultimate Pro Audio

How's the CD player doin'? We had the pair brought in and these were brand new (early-ish to mid noughties). the amp seemed to come on song quite quickly out of the box, but the CD player took some using for the sound to open up a bit. we were 'on the way down' as a business so the boss showed no interest in stocking it, but the sister shop then in London did and liked the pairing very much. Obviously at a decade or more old now, this probably doesn't happen now The Klotz should be a good match and that supplier of the cable is very cheap when Rega sold the original 'The Couple' for over fifty quid, albeit with Neutrik Pro plugs fitted.

I'm loving the combo, Dave. The Primares do seem to complement each other, but obviously, the CD21 is the only player I've had hooked up to the amp for any length of time, so I can't really make any valid comparisons. Re, the cable, I thought it was about the best balance of quality and price I could strike. There were other cables, NVA for instance, that I'd have used if money was no object, but it's a bloody great big object so it was a case of cutting my cloth according to my means. It was also nice to be able to order a 30cm lead, and a 40 cm lead, which were the lengths I needed, rather than the usual 50cm-or-nothing one sees on eBay.
