I can't quite believe that all the resident obsessives on here don't already have clip on ferrite beads on their cables. I don't have any on the audio gear. All the ones I've fitted have been elsewhere in the house.

My router and switches all have SBooster filters at the business end, so induced switching noise on the ethernet cables is pretty low to start with. All of the mains blocks they're plugged into have ferrite chokes to reduce the switching noise from radiating back onto the mains.

Fair play Tim. Your stance is fair and I respect that.
I can’t stand objectivists that want to save others from themselves, or get upset / quote information on delusion when this stuff comes up.
It’s a hobby, why do people get so tribal about it?
Bizarre.

It's not a competition, either, it's supposed to be a pleasurable pursuit.

I have a problem with my pet, can you help ? I'll give it a shot. What are you using for your tracer? I get good results with [ 18F]-Fluorodeoxyglucose, but there are others. Have you had the cyclotron checked?

I read a thread on an alternative forum where the owner of an amp wrote that he had his amp fixed at some considerable cost. The repair engineer is alleged to have said that the fault was caused by DC at the input. This has had me thinking about how many times customers have been presented with a large repair bill with a bit of foo added in to explain the high repair or modification cost.

There are always liars, cheats and incompetents Hopefully they will be named and shamed.
Things that don't sound 'right' in any way to the cynics will be labelled foo

I have never felt that I was having my enjoyment spoiled by this 'noise' you guys are trying to remove. There again I don't have all the dreaded SMPS that others seem overwhelmed by. One for the TV mast amp other side of the room from the HiFi system and mobile phone & camera battery chargers but they are seldom on when listening to music. They are fed by a Tacima block mind.

It can be neighbourhood dependent as well. My mains is heavily affected by the freezers from Sainsbury's and the bakery in the trading estate.

We used to have horrid problems at work when we were next door to an engineering company. All sorts of mains problems caused by the huge draw caused by their big kit. We had the electric people in it was that bad. We ran kit on 3 phase giving problems.
What else comes in from the neighbours and other places I wonder

There's a farm near us generating huge amounts of noise but only at certain times of the day.

Interesting. Two large stores over the road and far away. Would not know they were there electrically.
I am 3rd building away from our sub station. Neighbours are too busy/occupied raising children and working to create much noise.
No life may not be perfect but is free of electric noise. AG1500 might help, linear PSU for one rPi. There again the other rPi is standard supply.
Must be miserable trying to free oneself of this poor power.

Is it the Cherry Bakewells or the Battenburg that's the problem, Stan? From joining Elsewhere some years ago, I've always imagined you as some brown corduroy jacket and tank top clad old buffer. Sorry.
