Not a regret but I sold my Yamaha CR600 to help buy the first Quad 405. Beautiful looking machine that I would love to have today. The real regret is from last year. My Pioneer PD-S901 stopped working and I took it to our local guru who took one look and uttered those fateful words "the laser is gone" Looked on eBay and most lasers were around £15-20. Finally found one for the Pioneer at a bargain £125. As I had quite a bit of spare gear around it seemed sensible to have a small clear out and sell some stuff. The number of things on our 'to do' list extends almost to infinity and the financial demands of working our way down it are considerable. The most saleable bits were the Quad 33/50Ds/FM3 and they were duly moved on with some regret. But then they hadn't been used for over five years. Chased the guru for a few weeks to be told there was 'another' problem he was trying to fix. Finally got it back and it sounded fine.... for two days and then it stopped again. It was OK when it left here, you must have done something to it" The Guru is the neighbour of some of our best friends round here and we were asked not to upset him - ha. It didn't go well. Anyway, someone who does know what they are doing says something on the laser has been broken and it could only have been him and then it probably wasn't the laser anyway. So, here I am, no 901 and no Quads. I have other things to play with but I find this somewhat irksome

I don't think I have any but my wife still hasn't forgiven me for selling my Chario Academy II's.

I regret selling my Michell Syncro. It was a great deck but I bought an utterly crap arm with it (Helius Aureus) and that put me off the whole package. If I had swapped in a decent arm and a speed regulating power supply, it would have been a great deck and saved me a lot of money spent on the next upgrade.

I regret, parting with the Diesis Speaker and my Dais TT and the Nakamichi Dragon, and all my vinyls, now rebuilding the vinyl collection. But finished the restoration of the Michell Gyro and now to buy a cartridge I shall pop in and see my mate Mike Manning soon.

I regret not hanging on to my MYST amp. I regret my Dad throwing away his pristine GL75 in the belief nobody wants record players any more. I might add a regret about his old Bush radiogram. Mostly I regret going so many years not listening on ESL63s! (FFS nobody tell Gordon they work in a small room )

I don't have many at all really. If anything it's about time wasted - time wasted on farting about with cables before coming to the realisation that their effect is so minimal as to being laughable and that there are far more important things to address before turning to this. I also regret time and money wasted on an atrocious Cary power amp, having it repaired twice before giving up and getting rid.

I regret trying to DIY copy the funk firms carbon mods to my pt as it resulted in a 4 hour local anaesthetic plastic surgery operation to rebuild my thumb.

I regret trying to do the funk firms carbon mods to my pt as it resulted in a 4 hour local anaesthetic plastic surgery operation to rebuild my thumb. Just to clarify - I believe you weren't trying to fit an authorised modification which was dangerous and injured you. You were trying to make a DIY copy, and that is how you sustained the injury. Not everyone will have read HFS

Careful now! .....both with your incidental body part realignments and with your responses to posts here. (General advice - no-one being singled out)

I considered the funk firms asking price to high so i bought some carbon fibre and was trying to cut holes in it with wholly inappropriate tools and severed my thumb with a hole cutting drill attachment . There is only me to blame .

Buying a Nytech integrated that was nothing but grief from start to finish.
That's it, really. Spent far too much time and money swapping stuff around for not much appreciable benefit, but I guess that's common to almost everyone here.

The biggest regret not being able to purchase Meadowlark Speaker after Pat McGinty left the finances in a sorry state and the US Government were requiring a significant amount of the investment returned.
A missed opportunity these things are very timing dependent.

Not upgrading years ago. Agreed at a time when we didn't know 10% of what we *think* we know now
