Hello karatestu and welcome. You do realise you can listen to your kit do you - you don't have to pull it apart all the time! Just having a laugh mate, enjoy! Hi Chris, Oh, i listen to it plenty. Thats the reason why the electronics are not in cases - they are laid out on 2ft square sheets of chipboard arranged in a temporary rack made of fence posts with a foot between different levels. It doesn't take long to remove a level, play around a bit and then put it back for listening. Stu

Nice to see some else using a Isobarek approach Welcome to TAS Hi John, Yes, isobaric bass loading really is the business. No going back for me now and now i realise that any driver below 12" just doesn't cut the mustard for me any more Stu

I have never heard a DD in my system and so am bracing myself for the result. The PL-71 is quite well respected and so should be in the "good" category. We are all different though and I am just hoping I don't prefer the Linn. I could live with the PT1 winning. Stu I had a PL-71 for a while - very good deck indeed and there's not much you can do in terms of upgrades, which is great for some and not so great for others ... Hi Jules, The PL-71 is pretty much plug and play. But i realise the micro switches and electro caps will need replacing. The example i have been given has a tone arm with excessive horizontal bearing play which i will need to sort out. Other than that, outboarding the psu and up grading any regulation is about all i have seen done to this DD. Stu

Have you ever thought what 18 inchers in isobaric config would sound like Or building some isobaric bass with 3 or 4 15 inchers, one behind the other

Hi Stu and welcome to TAS! NVA make good kit and you have an interesting system there. If I may, once you've heard a good DD turntable going back to belt drive is not easy! I have never heard a DD in my system and so am bracing myself for the result. The PL-71 is quite well respected and so should be in the "good" category. We are all different though and I am just hoping I don't prefer the Linn. I could live with the PT1 winning. Stu Let me know if you need any help with the PT1. The alphason should be a good arm on it. Make sure the bearing has a bit of lubricant, and that the correct weight is fitted to the arm board. A common mistake is to change arms to a similar mount but incorrect weight, or the weight falls off after being moved around a few times, and then spend hours fruitlessly fannying around with the springs to get the deck set up. Then maybe try running it with a PP3 battery instead of the wall-wart. And ignore the Direct Drive fantasists.

Cheers Pinkie. Always enjoyed reading your Pink Triangle musings. It has a bespoke psu made by Les at Avondale Audio so should be sh*t hot. I'm not adverse to trying a battery though !
