Scrapping fuel saving would improve racing but inverted grid wouldn't work. It'd be a qualifying driven as slowly as possible, sandbagging to get higher up the grid Fuel saving is PC. Forcing rule changes or incentive zing overtaking to make them design cars that can follow in the slipstream and overtake would be nice Lazy shorthand on my part I'm afraid, I meant inverted from the last race, or perhaps with a handicap element based on this. Ah that makes more sense.. Still prefer a straight fight. Remember the 'come from the back of the grid' Indy car spectacle, that went horribly wrong for Dan Wheldon?

It's always going to be a sport with risks, but something needs to be done to stop processions. We had about 7 years of it with Ferrari and we are still there with Mercedes. Look how few of the last 5 years races have been won by another car when Mercedes didn't have a problem.
We need far more overtaking and far more opportunities for lesser teams to compete. Heavy penalties for causing a collision would mitigate risks of people running into each other whilst the necessity of overtaking to get up the grid or front runners would make for more overtakes.
If we don't see changes, F1 will, continue to lose fans and draw criticism for being boring. I just wish we could have a viable rival organisation. F1 would then be forced to change.

Some tracks don't help. The next GP at Monaco cannot help but be a procession... or a crash!

Just watched Verstappen's crash in FP3. You have to feel sorry for the engineers, trying to put that car back together in very limited time before qualy starts.

Yes, a very well deserved pole there for Ricciardo.

Should be the most uneventful start to a gp of the season with max at the back of the grid, if he twats someone again it won't really matter

Max could end up taking out Ricciardo when the latter starts to catch up with the back markers.

I don’t get it, for a kid who appears to have so much potential, why is he throwing it away this year? Let’s hope he doesn’t become the new crashjean.

Excellent and very well deserved win for Ricciardo. Even more impressive knowing he was 25% down on power and only had six gears.

I heard him talk about only 6 gears too and also assumed a gearbox issue. It seems he was so down on power that he could go fast enough to use 7th and 8th!

Nice job by Ricciardo. Just wish Lewis had been able to get past Vettel, but 3 points doesn’t impact that much.

Race rather killed by all protecting track position and tyre deg. Still a great drive by Danny! Wouldn't have been possible anywhere else.

Nice Pole yesterday and even better win from Lewis today.
Vettel showed he’s feeling the pressure again today, and why he’s not the racer Lewis is.
Is the performance of the new Mercedes engine an ominous sign for the rest of the field?

Yes, a very good race for Hamilton and Bottas would have come in 2nd if it hadn't been for Vettel's antics. Nice to see Raikkonen beat Vettel, although I think the writing is on the wall for him. Speaking of which, another point for Leclerc, magic!

Is the performance of the new Mercedes engine an ominous sign for the rest of the field? Not really: look at Williams and Force India.
