I like DPD the the efficiency, Text messages confirming progress & delivery etc.. They are by far the best courier I have come across, but even they have their off days, and I had one package delivered recently which had obviously been attacked by mice or rats somewhere down the line as there was a ragged hole in the package and contents spilling out. May not have been DPD's fault of course.

Still not heard a word from those spanners at Yodel.

I'm deliberately not ordering from Amazon for a few days as this is the worst time for 'could not gain access' type excuses.

I'm in a village, so I prefer to wait until I'm back at work and have everything delivered there.

I'm deliberately not ordering from Amazon for a few days as this is the worst time for 'could not gain access' type excuses. We had a ‘Nobody was in’ excuse recently, and the ridiculous thing was that it was a day we were in as we were waiting for the British Gas man to arrive, because our hot water wasn’t working.

Just heard from Crossflight that DHL can't find the address I sent some Mana to in NZ. Unlikely as I have sent there before. One line of the tracking says "Carded" on 18th Yesterday and today changed to "moved away" Very unlikely. 'Course there is an 11 hour difference so my man Zane is asleep or ought to be. Threat of it being sent back. No thankyou

DPD would appear to be our current object of hate.
Ruth ordered a nice coffee table. It transpired that the DPD courier had dropped it over a gate and then carried it to us (witnessed by a neighbour). The imbecile could have just opened the gate if he had used a little brainpower. The result was a table with a cracked joint that didn't stand true and had to be returned for a replacement.
David at MCRU sent me a BR Eflos box custom made for me. The DPD guy went to some cottages with a similar name to our barn. The neighbour told him exactly where to go. DPD status said 'delivered' with a photo of her house! We and our neighbours wasted a lot of time looking everywhere for it. Turns out, the driver couldn't be bothered to walk around to our place and returned it in the van, now going back to MCRU.
DPD. The new City Link.

I've said this before, but any courier service is only as good as the person in the van who does the delivery.
Having said that, the work load some have is tremendous, and they simply don't have time to do things properly.

You must be unlucky Martin and for sure it's region specific. But DPD here are good, with cheery helpful drivers, text message for a timed slot on the day and it's always been in that timed slot and never had a damaged box so far.
Postcode lottery . . .

I know. City Link, though, were absolute scumbags and deserved to go bust.

This deserves to be in the remarkable films thread, as it is.
Ken Loach - it's a tough watch, but clearly illustrates the devastating impact of the gig economy. Cheap next day delivery isn't actually cheap.

It's amazing how much MyHerpes has improved as a courier.
Whilst the Royal Mail is floundering under the unexpected pressure of Xmas deliveries and whingeing endlessly about it all, my experience of Herpes is that they are doing an infinitely better job. I received a parcel last week that was delayed by a day at most and then managed to send one on Saturday that was delivered today - excellent!
Their prices can be silly cheap - under a kilo starts from £2.45.

I had another age verification delivery from Amazon today. I swear I don't look a day younger than 50 (!) but the guy insisted on seeing ID with my date of birth. The liquor wasn't even for me!

I've got a very nice "regular" lady that delivers to me, and the couple of others I've seen recently have been very pleasant, in so much as they actually took the time to say hello, goodbye, and exchange a pleasantry or two in between. Stuff has also always turned up when it's supposed to. DPD, on the other hand, have annoyed me lately. Once by delivering before 8 in the morning, and then sending me an email later to tell me that that my parcel would be with me between 7 and 8, and then again by pushing a " you weren't in" card through my door as I was actually walking past it. The chap looked rather sheepish when I opened the door, pulled the card out from his side, and handed it back to him. He mumbled something about my doorbell " not working" so I pressed it, proved it was, and he left, with an "oh, right," and without an apology. While I'm having a moan I've lost count of the number of couriers who just *tap* my front door, completely ignoring the entry phone outside the lobby, and the doorbell actually beside my front door. If I'm having anything delivered I now have to sit in silence, waiting for it, or risk missing it.

Last week I had a Herpes email delivery confirmation with a photo of my parcel with wellies in on the front door Prices are bonkers cheap I use Parcel2go and DHL at the moment for shipping out and all good so far. A good system is key and together with constant improvement could be they are all getting there... For a moan I can do without having the doorbell rung for any reason as the dogs go mental, often all 6 knowing we are about to be attacked by murderous thugs. Then the guys who wait for me to answer and ask if the name is right. Perhaps I should put our names on the door. Our usual postie lobs the post outside on the front door mat, as requested. The non usual guys put it through the letterbox where Bailey likes to destroy it

I will never use DHL again for deliveries after my issues with them last year. Their 'customer service' ( I use the term loosely ) is simply atrocious. You only really find out how good these companies are when things go wrong.
On a brighter note I had a hassle free delivery from Hong Kong with TNT who I don't remember having any dealings with before. Arrived quicker than most UK deliveries!
I will stick with Herpes for low value deliveries and UPS for anything valuable.

And yet.... UPS delivered a lot to us at work. Packages often damaged and material inside also damaged so Xerox had to credit us. The drivers often slung the boxes on the floor. Think we also had missing boxes out of shipments sometimes. Not keen on UPS at all Words with a delivery here from one driver because I wasn't fast enough to answer the door bell
