I contacted the manufactures of my amp the other day to see if they can repair the remote for my amp they told me that it would be best if I bought a new remote from them for £60.00 plus £5.00 postage I didn't have the money to do that so I took it to my local repair man who cleaned the switch buttons and I picked it up after only a day past for a repair cost of £5.00 needless to say it will be the last product i'll be getting from them.
Anyone been been in the same boat ?

Bad attitude from the manufacturer. Not worth their bother to fix a remote, but happy to lose a customer Stoopid

Remotes are always worth trying to repair before chucking.

How long do they last, are any of the other Logitechs ok ? Much to choose between the 2 you mention ?

Don't get me going about dealers and repair companies That bad hay ?. I think for most dealers doing repairs and upgrades is a big hassle and not for them time usefully or profitably spent. There is a big difference in attitudes among dealers though - when I wanted my Cyrus firmware updated, most dealers would do it for free, but my local dealer wanted £50+ to do it..

My Logitech Harmony 650 is showing signs of age after only 2-3 years, e.g. some of the keys stick a bit sometimes. Having said that I would still recommend them, mostly because of the ability to progam them with multiple commands so one keyy press can switch on / off multiple devices etc. By the way, there were some good deals on Harmony remotes over the 'Black Friday' period, both Amazon and Logitech had some at half price - worth checking if they're still available.

A lot of dealers don't have the skills now to fix stuff either - they'll just send it back to the manufacturer, which,to me defeats the point of a dealership.
I won't go near them.

Don't get me going about dealers and repair companies That bad hay ?. Donkies years ago i sent two different amps in on two different occasions. They both came back fixed with bills that were just silly for what had been done & both with scratched enclosures on return. Ofc like always they said they didnt do the scratches. Since then i Learned Electronics on numerous courses.. People into Hi-Fi to get themselves on Electronics courses, especially people who buy Vintage Gear. It will pay in the long run.

Its got to the stage now where stuff cannot be repaired & is much cheaper to bin it. A waste full world indeed. Just typifies the junk it really is. I also used to get pissed off when i sent a brand of Equipment in that was to go back to the manufacturer to find a two bit engineer in the back of the shop has performed the job..

Having tried a Pronto and One-for-All, I've decided that all in one remotes are not for me.

Ive got a Logitech harmony one remote as well as the dearer harmony touches, the one and the earlier harmony remotes are more robust with more substantial buttons I've had mine over 5 years and still like new, also you can replace the batteries if needed,I have not need to yet,Logitech sent me two harmony elites instead of one by mistake and told me to keep it as good will as I use quite a bit of Logitech gear, they are very good and so is there tech's ,they will even program your remote with your equipment settings for you.if you don't have 15 items program do you need a top of the range model .buy a older model if you have less components to connect and are less complicated they are very good remotes.if in doubt buy a one from aldi or lidl ,Logitech have a huge database of items they can control.go and buy one.

Having tried a Pronto and One-for-All, I've decided that all in one remotes are not for me. They are a lot better than the pronto s and the all in ones, they are a real technical piece of kit,I have one of mine controlling the, blinds, curtains,AV amp ,bluray player and lights all in one go to the music of pearl and dean with a click of a button

Maybe the Pronto days were the start of the tech so not quite right. I'm tempted even though more tech is not what I want. Could it be seen as less tech ?......
