Ah yes, forgot the single box version was run with a wall wart.

Glad you appreciate it Gaz, how noticeable was the difference from wall-wart to Maplin linear? Cheers, Alan Initial listening just more of everything...the music just reached out in a way that just wasn't there with the wall-wart. Redoing setup on my deck tommorow (ordered new springs from Michell) and rechecking arm setup etc while I'm at it, so "proper" listening session tomorrow. Will report back differences between wall wart and linear in more detail.

Ta gazjam. Those have 13.8v .I require 12. Ït the difference a short term or lot term issue?

They have an adjustment pot so 12v isn't a problem.

Yup, all the Maplin boxes do 12 to 15V +- Just pick current draw to suit.
cheap as chips too.

Hi
I apologise for coming to this late but I am a new member and DIY 'challenged' to say the least ----- I am looking for a cost effective PSU or 2 for Musical Fidelity X10Dv3 buffers - really like the idea of Maplin CB as a solution but Ive no idea how to implement ---- any recomendations very gratefully accepted and if there is a kind soul out there who would consider building I'd be very happy to compensate them for their time if it proves economic --- tks in advance ( I hope !) many tks chris

Would the wonderful Ankaka battery (x2) do the job or do the MFs need more power ?

Chris, we need to know what kind of power they need: voltage, current or power rating, and AC/DC, before we can make a recommendation.

Hi
Thanks to all for replying
The buffers require 24volts ( configured as below if that is useful to non novices like me )
Musical Fidelity X-10D v3 --------- 12-0-12VAC @ 500mA the connection is via a 3 pin DIN.
I confess I pinched this info from the Custom cables website having talked with a really helpful guy called Sean there ----- this whole process started as I already had an old MF PSU version 1 which output 12v at half an amp (?) ----- but I didnot understand the 12-0-12 Volts AC basically meant 12+12 i.e. 24 volts ------- I was enquiring if i could simply get him to change the connectors on the original PSU umbilical cables to 3 pin din, from the existing 9.5mm mini connectors --- it was then that Sean explained it needed 24V ..... however he has offered a solution whereby i use 2 ( of the 4 ) outputs on the original PSU to plug into a single buffer --- he is going to take the PSU and check it is possible ---- as i say very helpful
But anyway over and above this solution I would still be interested on any advice that could be offered re the CB ( non hifi route if I can call it that ) as a standalone PSU would appeal and be more flexible... I have long believed that adding the phrase Hifi or even better 'audiophile' automatically increases prices of kit that may be used elsewhere in the tech/electronics arena ........ It should be stressed i have come to this conclusion on a cometely uninformed basis I am the first to admit !!
tks again
chris

Tks Pre65 --- I fear that needs more DIY skills than I am capable of however --- much as I like the price !

Any suggestions for an 18 to 20V DC (20V preferable) 1A PSU?
