The whole point of the M&S 'Comfortably Cool' mattress topper that I have, is the regulation of body temperature as you sleep.
The same principle applies to pillows. I have Hungarian Goose Down pillows with 'Comfortably Cool' pillowcases, which again, help to regulate body heat and keep the head cooler as you seep.
The mattress topper and pillowcases also wick moisture away from the body and in my case, drool on the pillows!
I have invested a lot in our beds and bedding in an effort to promote good sleep, which is very important to me!
The "Soft" rating on a Vi Spring mattress is good for up to 16 stones (I just squeeze in) and I find it excellent for my spine and associated Sciatica (left side L5 disc bulging!).
I also sleep with only one pillow and a bespoke "knee cushion" to keep my spine as straight as possible, as I sleep on my side!

Thanks Steve
Good info there
We tried soft, medium and hard and prefered medium after 2 minutes each

oops Mike!
My post should have stated that "Medium sprung" is good for up to 16 stones!
Thereafter, Hard sprung is recommended, but Medium remains my preferred spring rating.

No problem All those years ago I tried many beds and was convinced hard was best. Medium would seem to be best for most of us

Despite being 'only' 84kg (I don't do stones) we went for a firm mattress and I'm glad we did. It has proven supremely comfortable for good sleep.

How much time did you spend on the different types Martin ? Only trying them out in different shops. I hated Ruth's previous medium (admittedly tired) mattress so it was a case of persuading her that better support (not sinking in) gives better sleep.

Thanks My bed before ViSpring was old and likely knackered so firm seemed best then The And so to bed guy was quite adamant that we wanted medium and a couple of minutes lying down seemed to bear that out

Second night on new mattress and again I have woken up without any stiffness at all in my lower back. Sadly pain returns after sitting for a while but at least I know the mattress is doing a great job.

I'm a bad back sufferer / had a weak core for years. I found beds chairs, car seats, massage, chiro etc etc will help with the symptoms, but not fix the root cause. Taking the time and physical effort to develop a weak core to a strong one is quite an ask.. Rewarding if done though. If you are already pretty strong try these.. they take you to another level of well being.. I do the full set every other day and a half set in between or whenever I feel I need it. www.active.com/tennis/articles/7-core-exercises-every-tennis-player-should-doAs for beds.. We like IKEA mattresses. Take lots of time in store and you'll find the right one. I'm currently making the bed frame of my wife's dreams - I kid you not!

Let's hear from the 'real men' of 100Kg and above! I know there are at least three more of you out there!
