I've always thought of them as too blingy. It was confirmed when I ran a campaign once in Xerox with three Rolexes as prizes and the competition between sales people was fierce. I'm afraid to say that they don't keep good time, either.

Don't go with the flow man Chris. Be different. Stand out. What you really want - is one of these:

it's been Breitling all the way for me, but even I have to admit it's a mug's game. Since the 2010 range, even they have gone down-market. Rolex have used Seiko movements for Donkeys years, which put me off them.

I've had Omega, Breitling, Tag, and others (though not Rolex as out of my league). I prefer Omega for their style, but the best timekeeper by far was a £90 Citizen watch!
Currently I have a relatively inexpensive Tissot touch watch, just for the fun of the built in compass and tide table. It keeps good time too though.

When I was a young 'un I had a pair of Clarke's Pathfinder shoes, which had a compass in the heel. Couldn't tell the time with them, though. What i wear Does it give a holographic projection? Or maybe a laser?

Its more classy than the overpriced tripe that people seem to buy for other reasons other than telling the time!

MartinT - it's really only the stainless steel ones I like - the submariner, explorer 2 and the air king. The rest, yeah too blingy. And the timekeeping not great but has improved recently I believe. Mr Whippy - even though I do like them I just don't think I could part with £5000 for one : now,the watch you posted is a bit steampunk for my liking but not to go with the flow I'd go for a Sinn 556 or EZM2. Excellent watches. @spica - it was an Old Navitimer and a Rolex that first got me into watches! I'd still like an old Navitimer and I did have a toptime for a while but the current Breitlngs don't really get me moist at all. Shame that! @zippy - I've also had Omega,Breitling and now a Tag(which I've had for years and wear every day). I've also got two Tudors. I like the Tag best. It just keeps working! A lot of the Citizen watches are excellent,I like them as well.

No laser, then. I have one of these, and love it. All functions work and you can get it for just £26, from a UK seller. Was about £32 when I got it a few years ago: My best one is: A Stauer Graves 33. This has a certain look. About £43:

Different Hi-Fi gives different sounds. A Watch tells the time in one way. A Watch is nothing but a Fashion accessoree

Not necessarily- the Rolex here was used for race timing.

Many of the big names use modded ETA movements. It's been a bit of a hot topic on watch forums for years.

I have a Citizen eco-drive dive watch and I love it. Very accurate, no maintenance and no fuss.
I understand why people are attracted to high end automatic watches but IMO most are a right royal rip-off. So many of them use ETA or other movements - very little in house 'craftsmanship' is left any more. That's why there are now so many automatic watch start-up companies now.
And don't get me started on the Swatch group. Their servicing of my old Omega Aqua-Terra convinced me to sell it. Paid 300-400 for servicing and they couldn't even regulate it properly... Wish I had gone to a good independent watchmaker.
Friend of mine has just bought a German Sinn pilots watch - the guy who started the company was a Luftwaffe pilot and is still around at 105 I think!
My fave Rolex is the Sea Dweller.

Im not grasping the accurate bit for general time keeping! Ive owned my LED watch since 1981 that cost very little when it came out around 1975. Kept time perfect in all those years!!
