Having started this thread and decided that co-ax is indeed better sounding provided that you a) have galvanic isolation and b) make your comparisons with the DAC in the same mode (oops), I thought I'd better compare all four co-ax cables I have in order to decide which would get further listening. Just for a bit of fun...
1. Profigold RG-59/U 2. Blue Jeans 1694A 3. Gotham GAC-1 Pro 4. QED Performance
To cut a long story short, the Profigold, Blue Jeans and Gotham sounded remarkably close to each other, so much so that I could not easily tell them apart. There we go, I thought, re-clocking at both ends has pretty much eliminated any variation in the cables.
However, the QED is different - and better. Slightly tighter with noticeably more potent bass, dynamics and 'height'. This last one was a surprise but it added height to the soundstage compared with the others.
So the QED stays in the system while I continue delighting in the Pi with DigiOne combo.

Not the same thing, Mike. This thread is about S/PDIF digital audio co-ax cables.
