I think the TT would benefit from its own separate wall shelf but hope the RDC items do the trick

Re: RDC cones. Yep, good things, I've used them for decades! I almost always prefer solid footers to squishy ones, and the RDC "compound" seems to be very effective sonically - have you tried the RDC1 under your Techie tt, Martin? My question from a week or two back seems about to be answered!
Also - the spike changes are pretty much what I would have expected - but does your system need to be 'punchier', Martin? I must admit that I don't have any spikes in my system - I think they give an unnatural feel to the sound - too, errr, punchy and hyped up! RDC cones sound more natural to me - dynamics have a realistic cushion of air and tonality is richer and more natural. You seem to be heading further down the testosterone-system road. I suspect our systems are drifting ever further apart! But hey, whatever floats your boat. You'd probably think my system was weak kneed and flabby.

Could this be the (spiked) Mana effect ?
The RDCs for the rack feet, so take out the spikes ?
I think, not certain as not listening scientifically, but the RDCs seem to give greater width to the sound. Perhaps different words to describe what you are also hearing Certainly a very good thing

My question from a week or two back seems about to be answered! Sorry I missed this while I was away, Jerry. Serendipity, you got there first and I'm hoping they do exactly what I need.

I suspect our systems are drifting ever further apart! Actually, it's not that the testosterone is being pumped and the fine detail forgotten, very much a case of the latter coming to the fore and being more naturally presented. It's less brutish and more about the musical flow. I really think you would prefer how it sounds now

Ah , "less brutish" - yep, that's more like it! I did find your system a bit ISIS-like!
My humble Techie dd tt is sitting on 3 RDC1 cones - definitely preferred over other support types I have tried, although I've not had Isonoe footers.
My speakers are also on RDC1 cones.
Definitely the support system of choice for me!

Very interesting evening. Both vinyl and CD playback are the best I've ever heard, by small but audible increments. Everything is cleaner, better delineated, less harsh but more detailed, with a deeper soundstage offering better air and space. One downside: I'm now getting feedback from the turntable at just about my loudest listening volume. Not the usual howl-back but a very deep, throbbing, bass which goes away if I reduce the volume by a couple of dB. I think the 'grounded' system rack is allowing more through (as I would expect) and I'm hearing the limiting effects, or possibly even resonance, of the Isonoe/Techniboot feet. So, a new plan: I have ordered 4 x RDC 1 Cones with M6 studs, 4 x RDC Cone Cups and 4 x RDC Combi Bases. RDC claim that bass suppression is the forte of the Combi Bases, so we'll see if that lot does the trick. I would be lying if i said " i dont like to mention , I told you so"

The RDCs for the rack feet, so take out the spikes ? I meant to add to my reply to Jerry, I may yet go for RDC 1 cones with M8 studs for the six rack legs. However, I would need to check what load each one can take and it would have to revert to coupling with the carpet rather than the concrete floor (unless I can arrange some kind of mini spiked platform for each RDC to sit on). For the moment, I'm leaving that aspect alone while I work on the turntable.
Time you came over for a listen, I need another ear on it although it's pleasing me greatly at the moment.

I would be lying if is said " i dont like to mention , I told you so" Did you, DQ? About the spikes? If so, well done for anticipating correctly as I really didn't know what to expect to be honest.

In August , when you announced your decision I said [ on page 4 ] "It is by no means as simple as that vis-a-vis the turntable. IMO your electronics wont give a toss . Your turntable as isolation modifications,. platter/feet . You have chosen these on the basis of how they perform on a table which decouples . Coupling it will change those variables , they may no longer be the optimum choice. As a general rule , coupling is the best way to deal with vibration in my opinion , decoupling is for when the room presents problems when coupled . "

Well, so far my listening is proving you right.
However, my electronics most certainly do give a toss as evidenced by all of them sounding better on RDCs.

Been working on the turntable footers and bass resonance problem, see here.
(apologies for the unusually poor quality image, taken in natural light but clearly not enough of it)

Meanwhile, I've done a lot of CD listening tonight. The Ayre absolutely loves the RDCs and has never sounded better. Very tight, musical and flowing with masses of detail and vividness to the stage: I was playing Jewel's Spirit just now and the wealth of bongos and cymbals going on in the background just came through as if they had never been there before. The remastered Led Zeppelin CDs also sounded mighty good.
I'm formulating a plan to get the turntable able to play at the same volume as before. The only problem is, it means dismantling the main system rack again

Yup I'm a fan of the RDC cones too . Gary brought some over to mine a while back and I immediately bought a set to support my amp . A week or so later I bought a set for my server . I'm really impressed with them . They seem to open up the soundstage while tidying things up and making the sound more natural . Fantastic upgrade IMO.

We're not all as wealthy as othere Mike The RDC cones are expensive but not overly so and provide a big enough improvement to be excellent VFM in my books.

For VFM cheapo wooden cones take some beating - mostly as they are pennies.
RDC if you are a bit more serious
Stillpoints if you can get a really good deal or you have so much money you don't need to ask the price.
Stillpoints Component stands are even better ! and cost even more Shuggie of this parish has a pair available......

I was using oak cone feet . The RDC cones provided a very audible upgrade in my system.

RDCs are VFM for sure unless you are on a shoestring budget
I tried a load at once with the RDCs last of all

Right, I've had a good long think and what I'm going to do is order some RDC 1 Cones with M8 threads and replace the spikes on the system rack with the cones. Clearly I have a concrete floor that is anything but the 'immovable ground reference' that I thought it was. Are all new houses built with such voids underneath?
I'm hoping that much of the goodness of the spikes will be retained but that the RDCs will help to soak up some of this very low frequency vibration that is upsetting the turntable. It does mean stripping down the entire system once again, but I'm getting good at it now
So all my work in preparing the rack will hopefully not be in vain, as I will be swapping only the end component...
