I have a copy of the Japanese SHM-CD of 'There's the Rub' it sounds pretty good to me - the growl of Martin Turner's bass guitar at the beginning of 'FUBB' is quite something to behold. That's good news, Chris. The Japanese SHM-CDs are very good indeed and it's most likely the same mastering as for the SACD.

Speaking of The Police, I searched for Outlandis d'Amour and found it on SACD in Amazon.co.jp! Then, blow me if I didn't find Wishbone Ash Argus on SACD. Never even knew it existed. That's two SACDs winging their way from Japan Is the Argus SACD taken from Martin Turner's remix, or from the Paschal Byrne remasters? Martin Turner's remix is an abomination!

That I don't know, and probably won't until I receive the disc.

Sorbothane versus Ecstasy Prop footers: there seems to be less sibilance with the Ecstasy sprung feet. Is sibilance a characteristic of sorbothane? It feels good to have eliminated sorbothane from the system but I'm still listening to the admittedly small differences between them.

At the risk of sounding like a broken record (!), I put one more SR Red into the Ayre SACD player and moved the SR-20 down to the VIDA phono pre. Now both sound better and are competing for most solid image away from the speakers.
I can only surmise that standard fuses must be really really crap non-linear devices because this shouldn't be audible to the extent that it is.

Oh god - do hush up, Martin! You're starting to get me interested in trying a godamned £57 fuse!

Why not go Schuko or old style Uk round pin plugs into a suitably equipped BMU or distribution block? Then you only need one 13 amp fuse at the wall plug. This is perfectly legal and eliminates fuses (almost). Better still a dedicated spur (15 amp) using the old round pin plugs and sockets - No fuses. Not tried it but it makes more sense than fancy fuses as no fuse in theory should be the best solution. Perhaps someone could tell me what is actually different internally with these fuses that is likely to make a real difference if they are rated at standard 13 amp.

Yes, going round pin would be a good move I think, eliminate the fuse altogether.

This is perfectly legal and eliminates fuses (almost). I've thought about it, honestly. The problem is the lack of flexibility and need to alter all my cables. Keeping them UK standard helps a lot to explore different cables with different equipment quickly and easily. It also makes selling them an awful lot easier. Also, my P10 is UK spec with UK sockets (replaces the need for distribution). I would need to sell it for a Euro spec one.
You're quite right, eliminating the fuse must be the best solution. However, I don't want to do all that modification and these fuses are giving me the level of transparency I want, for not too much money (in comparison with the cost of the cables). There's also the question of equipment fuses like the rear panel P10 fuse. I'm not bypassing that!
As for a dedicated spur, that's planned for my next house for sure. I will also explore a BMU at some future point.

Have any of you guys gone any further than just an earth spike for earthing? I'm on a TT electrical supply and considering the options.
Cheers. Bill

Just to clarify no fuses is fine as long as you are on a spur. Connections to ring mains must have a fuse.

Think we need a really clear definition on Ring, Spur and Radial Confess to mixing spurs and radials in my head at least And then there is 3 phase. Who would go there I wonder..........
