Shared parts only work for joint platforms like the Toyota GT86 and my Subaru BRZ.

Anyone know where I might get an equivalent for this Daihatsu rear shock absorber? Part number is: 48531B2400. Monroe part number is: Copen 0-4 12. Googled till I'm blue in the face. I like a challenge.
Can you give me the vehicle details (make - model - year ) please, PM if necessary.
In real life I was a Parts Manager in aftermarket parts, and later with franchised dealers. Thanks ever so much. It's a Daihatsu Copen 1.3 2007. Found a German supplier last night doing a search as a Toyota part: ersatzteile-toyota.com/DAI-48531-B2400They also have the front shock absorbers, but cost €215 each: 48510-B2400 (RH) 48520-B2400 (LH) They might have springs, but I haven't enquired. Will probably hold onto it till it sees me out, so looking to get hold of a few parts to replace before they become unavailable. Would like a new exhaust, but the 1.3 version is pretty unobtainable. The .660 type is easy to get hold of. Been trying to find KPY shocks, but no luck so far.

Is there anything special about the Copen rear dampers ?
There are suggestions that the Move rear dampers are very similar, so these might be worth investigating.
Oil Pressure, Twin-Tube, Top eye, Bottom eye
Article number: R3469
Shock Absorber System:
Twin-Tube
Shock Absorber Type:
Oil Pressure
Shock Absorber Mounting Type:
Top eye, Bottom eye
Max. Length [mm]: 461
Min. Length [mm]: 292
Weight [kg]: 1,400 (1.4 ?)
MONROE:
Shock Absorber
Item number:
R3469
These seem to be around £35.00

* Thanks for making the effort. There's nothing special about the shocks; it's just finding something compatible. The item you mention comes up as not being suitable when searched. I don't know the specs of the original (48531-B2400) or the Monroe equivalent (Copen 0-4 12) so haven't been able to check to see what might fit. But as said, I've found a German supplier that has original rears, which cost about the same as what the Monroe ones cost from the UK seller. They're hardly going to be unique to a Copen, it's just finding what else uses them or an equivalent. Still looking for less expensive front ones and springs. The link. Yes, I have tried them previously. I got front caliper pistons and service kits from them this week. eBay would have been cheaper, as it turned out. If you go and try the 3 Copen version links lower down what you get is the notification "Unfortunately ..." saying nothing is in stock. If you then go further down and select the items being shown what you get is the car make/model request, which will then take you to the "Unfortunately...". So, they don't actually have any suitable in stock, which is the case with the others I've tried. I'll see if I can find the codes for front & rear springs. Anyway, thanks for your help.

I did some more digging, but not sure if it will help you.
Showa rear shocks.
48531-97283-000 (Tuned suspension)
48531-97282-000 (normal suspension)
Bilstein rear shocks
48531-B2640
If it were me, I'd take one off and measure the open & closed lengths and see how it compares to the Monroe ones.

Thanks for your help. I've just ordered a set from the German supplier. At least I'll know they'll fit.

Got me thinking, though. My front disks need replacing and it doesn't look too hard watching YT videos for my particular car. Or others.

It's not too hard at all, but you do need the right tools, such as a torque wrench that can do at least 120nm, the right sockets and a caliper spreader.
Brake lube, brake cleaner, thread locker and a long breaker bar to undo the caliper bolts help.

No, there is plenty of caliper capability in the 4-pot front ones as standard on the BRZ, even with my Harrop supercharger. I've specced things for fast road, not track. So I have drilled and slotted / vented replacement front discs but I've left the rear discs alone. PFC type Z carbon-metallic front pads, Cosworth Streetmaster rear pads. It's a recommended and well-balanced setup for road use.
At a later date, I'll replace the brake lines with braided types to give me a slightly firmer pedal.
Further into next year, I'm contemplating either Bilstein B8 dampers to go with the H&R Super Sport springs, or else Tein Flex Z coilovers to firm up the handling.

That makes more sense, thought the PFC box looked like calipers.

One front disc rotor and new pads done, then I lost the light so I'll do the other one tomorrow morning.

All finished now, not a lot of fun in filthy weather this morning. So that's new front Rotor-Discs vented/slotted/drilled brake discs, PFC Z rated front pads and Cosworth Streetmaster rear pads. I've bedded in the pads and a test run in driving rain proved that the new discs disperse water well.
Total parts cost: £200, saving a bill of more than a grand to have it done for me.
