I use a mains regen unit but TBH Martin I think it is irrelevant as I cannot tell the difference between the system plugged into the wall direct or via the regen unit.
I just like the fact it knocks out 230V on the dot.

Mains regen is cleaning noise going into the equipment Grounding boxes with noise created in the unit

Here we go Jerry... I am about 2/3rds of the way through it. Heard these loads of times each successive year at Munich, yet have never worked out what those bass towers can really do. I have the urge to want to play some house, drum and bass or reggae on them loud! www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLPt7qoWWa8yjGKClUCQF6hSMA7jqjnclZBTW where is the bloody Nobsound and array of T-amps??? Amateurs!

Hah, yes, that lot would fit in nicely chez Jerry.
Actually, half a £million doesn't seem totally excessive. I wonder if the dealership sold any full systems on the back of that dem gear.

Well not for the Beverly Hills crowd where $25-$50 million dollars for a mansion is commmon place. They easily have the space for them. Just YouTube and have a look at some properties for sale there. Friggin' crazy stuff.

I try to make sure my equipment weighs an absolute ton. That way damping materials become pretty much irrelevant. Grounding boxes, though? What's that about? Isn't mains earth good enough? Connecting to the unused outputs and inputs of equipment On of the biggest changes in my system. Possibly the biggest

Is the Nobsound NS-08P still your pre of choice Jerry? Any mods been done to it?

Is the Nobsound NS-08P still your pre of choice Jerry? Any mods been done to it? It sure is, hugely pleased with it, it sounds fab. Nope, no mods - I'm sure I could ask Alan Firebottle to 'breath on it' to good effect, but I don't feel the need for that at the moment.

I always enjoy my system, but it's really come together nicely the last couple of weeks.
Without doubt the Nobsound preamp helps, but I also seem to have settled for the nonce on a Chord DAC. I've had quite a few Chords over the last few years. In approximate order of them appearing in my system... Hugo Hugo2 2Qute (with standard and Teddy Pardo PSUs) Gem Mojo
None stayed for long, the Hugo and 2Qute were OK, nothing that special but OK, the Hugo2 was hideously stark and uninvolving (the review in The Verge is spot on imo), the Gem was nondescript..... the exception being the Mojo which is the Goldilocks Chord DAC for me.
Reviews say its warmer and more forgiving than other Chords and I think that's right. It has a very plausible rich tonality to my ear, but still retains a large chunk of the traditional Chord lucidity and clarity. Very pleased indeed with the Mojo at the moment. It's been a big surprise. Well, it's tiny, so it's been a little big surprise.
The Mojo does have practicality issues - output is only via 3.5mm headphone jacks, coax digital input similarly. So adapters, or specially terminated cables are needed. I use adapters and my own choices of cables.

I'd like to try one after I've finished with all my new bits and pieces. Only two things put me off - it has 'Nobsound' written on it and also I'd much prefer a black chassis. Unusually for chifi I can't see anyone else making something similar!

F it Jules and buy one. These cheap Chinese jobbies are great fun and some sound great even through the best systems.
I'd put a K in front of the N for maximum effect at that price.
That chap never paid for the Cayin so I put it on AoS with an additional sweetener. Have a look.
So spend a bit of money on Chi-Fi and you get a stupid amount of value in some cases. Hint, hint buy the Cayin, it's awesome!

I used to own a fantastic tube pre made by Consonance so I know chifi can be very good but I'm on a solid state path nowadays ...

More on the B&O H7 Bluetooth headphones.
I finally got around to more comparative listening...
Wired or Bluetooth-ed they sound pretty much the same. Which is interesting, and a bit unexpected, and may say more about my hearing than the excellence or otherwise of Bluetooth aptX connection!
The wired-only H6 (one of my long-time favourite cans) sound noticeably brighter and a bit more open. But they are mk2 and the identical looking H7 came out in the time of the mk1. And I moved on to the mk2 because they seemed to be a bit more open sounding than the mk1. So it could well be that the H7 and original H6 sound very similar. I suspect they do.
The H7 are probably an easier listen for long periods.
I'll keep both H6ii and H7.

And I remain ecstatically pleased with the Chord Mojo DAC. So I'm a bit unclear why I have just ordered a new DAC and its companion linear PSU. A spur of the moment kind of thing, I guess. Ah well. Hopefully it will be interesting. The DAC should arrive tomorrow and the lpsu in a few weeks. Which will give me time to settle with the DAC and standard wallwart before the lpsu arrives and provides a sq boost or not.

I also need a 3m+ cable if I want to use wired headphones .

No interest in the wireless headphone transformation widget? The aptX Bluetooth tech it uses gives very good sound, easily approaching CD quality imo. I'm enjoying it as I type this - wireless Philips Fidelio X2HR, yum.
____
DACs DACs DACs...
I couldn't resist returning to the Topping Temptation.
Online reports indicated that the DX3, with an alleged fruitier more involving sound, might be more to my taste than the D70. And so it seems to be proving, I've had one for a couple of days now and enjoying it a lot. Definitely richer tonal colours and more solid 3D imaging than the D70 in my system. And the bass has gone up a level in power and resolution. I'm not sure yet how it compares overall with the excellent Chord Mojo, both are a very enjoyable listen.
The DX3 was next day delivery with Amazon, but the P30 lpsu for it is making its way from China. Should arrive in a week or so, I guess. It will be interesting to see how that compares to the standard wallwart.
And another DAC is on its way, as recommended by my friend Tim, now ex of TAS. A very enthusiastic Stereophile review by Sam Tellig and John Atkinson cemented Tim's recommendation.
