Anybody else still using these?
I built several of their kits many years ago, but have just serviced and repaired a KECL82 amp that I've had sitting in a cupboard for a couple of years. The repair was simple enough, only the left channel had failed, and I traced that to a dodgy potentiometer. Having put this amp back into my main system for testing, I'm really enjoying the sound I'm getting from its 8 watts of valve power! Quite a change from the 100 watts of solid state power that I'm used to from the Quad 520f that I normally use in this system. You can obviously hear that there is less power and 'grip' from the KECL82, but it's a very musical amp.
I'm now thinking I should dust down some of the other amps of theirs that I still have in various cupboards.

World Designs have their own forum, which is good to know if you are resurrecting one of their kits.
www.world-designs.co.uk/forum/index.php
There is a wealth of information there.
They were all good designs and responded well to sympathetic upgrading.

The company is still active supplying a limited range of kits, including the KeL84. www.world-designs.co.ukThere are a lot of people still using these and the older kits. I have just sold my clone of the original 300B push pull design. I still have the pre-amp and phono modules.

I still have an almost-built WAD KEL34 kit lying around waiting to be completed. Does anyone fancy taking it on, for the cost of collection? You'll need to know what you're doing as there may be one or two parts missing, but the chassis is intact, circuit boards made and I'm fairly sure I have all the valves.

I'll give kettle first refusal, otherwise you're welcome to have it, myles. Same thing applies, you can collect it and all I ask is for a build thread.

Graeme (kettlechips) has taken possession of the KEL-34 (which was actually supplied with Edicron 6CA7 marked output valves).
Good luck with the build, Graeme!
