We had the main RCD in the road replaced today, because it was faulty, and that was how I got to see these mother -f**** fuses in the white box and thought...
Russ Andrews - where are you when I need you?

I have now received the 20mm SR Blue fuse and will install it in the back of the P10 regenerator tonight.

I'm sure you won't be disappointed Martin. I can't remember you being unlucky yet

Nice step up when I put the SR red in the back of my P10. My prediction for the blue : Between a half and one and a half steps up

Is that expectation bias if you are already thinking it will be a step up?

I'm saying nothing. Expectation bias can be eliminated just by not expecting anything. I've performed plenty of mods in the past that have had no effect. We'll see...

I'm not sure it's possible to eliminate expectation bias completely. After all we are emotional creatures and have invested time and money in making our purchases. I'm not saying that has to be always at a conscious level, but subconsciously I reckon some kind of expectation bias will always be there.

When I bought my AG1500 mains regenerator I was hoping to send it back on the basis that mains was foo. It proved to me how bad the mains was, and gave me a consistent performance no matter what time of day.
It turns out there is some large agricultural machinery the other side iPod the village which can suck some serious juice... This may be one of the reasons, but I think the electrical network out in the country is pretty bad. We suffer from brief power cuts quite a lot.

I knew I would be putting my first mains cable back on Ebay as I knew it couldn't work. Staggered when I heard the difference. Swapped back and forth, moved to different kit. This cannot be true. Eventually I had to confess mains cables worked. The onto other accessories.

The second SR Blue fuse is interesting. The effect is very subtle and if you didn't know my system you wouldn't be aware of it. This one, a 10A 20mm type, goes into the rear panel of the P10 regenerator and is one of only two fuses that power the whole system (as opposed to a single component). The first was a very audible, if still subtle, improvement across the spectrum. This second one highlights almost exclusively soundstage or, more accurately, the sound of the venue/studio/room in the recording.
I played a mixture of live and studio recordings and each one benefitted from more of the acoustic of the event. It made each one more uniquely different.
This is with a new fuse and the system powered up from cold, so I know there is a little more to come. It still amazes me that these things can squeeze just a little more than I've ever heard before. Leonard Cohen singing Hallelujah was brought powerfully into my room with emotional intensity. So too was Sia, Hugh Masakela, Yello, Mindy Smith and Little Feat all in very different performances.
It is a small difference and I couldn't possibly recommend it unless all else has been done first to your system. However, little by little I shall continue to replace my SR Reds with Blues because every time I eke out more from a recording it brings the musical intensity up.

There is something quite special about these fuses, I only started this thread a source of amusement and was quite taken aback when I saw the length of it last week, yes it stirs debate and almost always some people get quite irate about the subject matter as they always seem to do with anything associated with the mains. There are too many people buying these for it to be foo, none sent back, no negative words from any user, funny really the only negativity comes from people who don't own any.

And yes...I quite concur, the SR blue fuses are Quite Voodoo Fekin Efficacious, other posts by me on the subject are available, the mechanism by which a mains rail componant fuse should make cack all difference let alone by such a degree is a bloody mystery not yet measured by instrumentation AFAIAA.
