My Grandma had something just like that, it sounded ok for a short space of time.

I received the SR Blue fuse today (thank you, David) and have just spent three hours listening to the system with it installed in the Coherent BD power cable, the main one feeding the regenerator and therefore the whole system. The previous fuse was an SR Red.
The SR Red is significantly better than any other audiophile fuse I've tried, including Russ Andrews, HiFi Tuning and AMR Gold among others. I never heard the SR Black but I would say that this SR Blue is a much smaller, but quite easily discernible, improvement. Accepting that it's all subtle, what I'm hearing is a soundstage that's even more detached from the speakers, incredible purity around instruments and bass that 'grumbles' more effectively (I can't think of a better way of putting it). The clarity that my system does so well in the midrange is more startling in tiny details and I definitely noticed more things going on in recordings I know very well, especially in the decay of sounds. Voice remains superbly fluid, tactile and focused.
I'm not getting into any more arguments about silly prices for fuses as it completely misses the point. Does the improvement I heard merit an expenditure of £130? Yes, in MY system it does. Will it do similar things in other systems? I can't answer that, but you can try for yourself if you're willing to be open minded. I would say that your system needs to be well sorted first, though.
I'm awaiting a second 20mm SR Blue to go into the P10 regenerator rear panel.

Thanks Martin.
Perhaps it will even improve given more running time.

According to Synergistic Research, it starts off sounding better than the Black (which I've never tried) and then takes 200-300 hours to fully yield its performance.
I was impressed with how it sounded out of the box last night.

Sounds nice. P10 connected full time ?
Thinking on complete systems. Standard fuses are maybe the very worst part of a standard system before any mods.

It's my experience that standard fuses are only bad if they're old and tarnished, or used in marginal values in gear prone to current surges. The ancient A&R A60 amp for example, was well prone to popping line fuses back in the day for little reason at all once it got to a good few years old. Replacing the supplied red-striped originals with a quality *correct type* from RS Components (in our day the main source for this kind of thing), seemed to fix it, so it could be said the original stock fuses were suspect.

Mains cables, interconnects, supports, racks, weights, mains filters. Almost like the kit has been deliberately crippled with a cheap nasty component

I know what fuses are in most competitors cables, wonder whats in this one? A 20p bussmann no doubt.

P10 connected full time ? It's always on standby with the source and preamp components permanently powered and the power amp switched when needed.

I mean the rock bottom cheapness of a fuse. They are made in millions and most down to a price. Bought a load for work and home a few years back. About a fiver for 100 or so. The electricity has to come through this cheap, very thin strip of metal. A system is a strong as the weakest link. This seems to be the weakest link by a long way

I've SR Blacks throughout my system, each one bringing an appreciable improvement.
Was never able to fit one my old Oppo 103 as it was soldered onto the board, but with my 203 player I've replaced the power supply with a linear one that has a replaceable fuse.
SR Blue fresh out the packet sounded (and looked) noticeably better than the AMR Gold that came fitted. The 203 and its new PSU has been running 24/7 for a week or so now so has some time on it. Pictures getting better as is the sound.
Swapped in a SR Black fuse of the same value to compare (just for fun) and sat down over the course of an evening to listen to music and watch some Blurays. Much less of a "Wow look at that" experience with the Black, still looked fantastic but putting the blue in the next day and watching a big chunk of the same movies it just seemed better.
Just my £0.02 worth based on experience, my ears/eyes and equipment of course.

I know what fuses are in most competitors cables, wonder whats in this one? A 20p bussmann no doubt. Amazes me most of the mains cable industry doesn't use better fuses. Compare 2 identical mains cables, first with a 1p fuse, second a better fuse and you want the second cable. I was sceptical about fuses until I compared. Sold. Had to have

Nice experiences, Gaz. I was surprised at the improvement when I swapped the Blue in for a Red. Listening tonight, it's still improving.

The electricity has to come through this cheap, very thin strip of metal. And it does so magnificently. Every time. Unless there's a fault in the equipment it is protecting in which case, hopefully, it blows

And I've reported my findings. The fuse has a definite effect on the sound quality of the system.
P.S. please let us know which brands of specialist fuse you have tried and in which positions?
