How can i forget about the most rubbish day of the year Very easy, just focus on something positive. The more one focuses on the negatives in life, the more negative life becomes.

Modern automated phone systems.
I phoned Mastercard on Friday - 15 mins waiting to speak to someone going through endless menus, identifying myself twice to the 'computer' and then going through identification twice with the two people I had to speak to. Utterly painful.
The only good thing was that they dealt with the card fraud very quickly indeed

It's not so much the idea Christmas I dislike, when I deconstruct it I like many of its constituent parts, time off, fancy food & drink, seeing family and friends, buying a loved one a gift etc. All of these things are good and enjoyable in themselves.
However when combined and labelled as Christmas I find them all utterly repellent, hollow and unfulfilling.
I think it is the enforced nature of it I resent and disruption to normal service and false sentimentality. Aside from the inescapable commercialism of it. On the flipside you'll never find me more positive and upbeat than in January, a month many people find depressing, I love January because the whole sorry mess of it is never further away.

I love decorating Martin, very therapeutic for me, I take my time and the end result is always better than many so called professionals. It's one of the thing's I'm looking forward to about owning my own home again

Well old chap, by thinking about "arse lickers" you may well be attracting them. Try thinking about what you do want to attract into your life instead.

Right now there's just one thing I hate . . . Christmas, I really hate everything about it, have done for decades, but each year the loathing increases. If only we could have good will to all me and lovely cuddly feeling all year round. As for the shopping fest - no not keen

Negativity is an easy hole to fall in especially when it is all around you.
It can keep us alive though, looking out for bad and dangerous stuff and avoiding it.
Surprises me when I see really good things happening - which don't get anywhere near the same exposure as the grim news

I hate people who are cruel to dogs , some of the things that you read about are beyond belief , if I ever witnessed first hand anything bad I would not be able to restrain myself from taking some action. This is the only thing where I can use the word hate , dislike maybe a few trivial things.

As for the shopping fest - no not keen The shopping malls and mass public frenzy are the absolute worst thing about Christmas for me. Amazon is certainly my friend and far preferable to going shopping for presents. I don't mind the family gathering or cooking lunch aspect at all.

Perhaps they have examined the subject and go forth with an open mind.
How many modern "drugs and medicines" have their roots in ancient remedies ?
By the way, I abhor "con men" in all walks of life.

I guess the thing that I dislike perhaps even hate is people who just see the worst in everything FYI, I am assuming that most people are not really indifferent about rapists, paedophiles, criminals, liars and corrupt politicians, and are just avoiding pointing this out to keep the tone of the thread light. Room 101 would be a very different programme if contributors were honest about their feelings...... Lawrence

The use of the word 'streaming' when playing audio files from a music server or player, as opposed to streaming data via the internet.
