Well they don't look Goodmans, but there are two separate magnets which means dual concentric in some form or another.

Some Goodmans 12" full range drivers. These both date from 1946 and, coupled with some Bakers Selhurts 15" Auditorim bass drvers crossed over at 150Hz and lorenz LPH-65 tweeters crossed over at 12kHz did not sound dated at all.

Curiosity - why tie them in bags.

Curiosity - why tie them in bags. A lot of early speakers that were used in cinema applications used phenolic spiders and no dust cones which I have been told was to make servicing i.e. cone replacement simpler. The gauze bags were to keep dust or other foreign objects out of the voice coil gap. Some of my Westrex & British Thomson Houston drivers are in the same sorts of bags.

When I see your BTH units Andy, the Altec 604 and 801 always spring to mind.

Curiosity - why tie them in bags. My old B&W 'DM2a' & 'DM4' had a simular thing not bags but brown foam that did the same job.

When I see your BTH units Andy, the Altec 604 and 801 always spring to mind. The twin magnet construction does make them look similar Geoff. Don't forget there were a few other vintage Dual concentics (other than Tannoy) made in the UK Parmeko LS1 - 15" Looks very similar to the Altec 604 Altobass 2000 (made by Parmeko) sometimes sold overseas as Mullard - 12" Vitavox DU120 (pretty dire) - 12" Whiteley DC15 - 15" Whiteley DC12 - 12" Whiteley DC10 - 10" BTH/AEI QA14 - 12" The BTH K10A was the best of them though

Anyway, back to the O/P. I personally would sooner get a pair of Goodmans Magnum K2s than the Dimension 8s. The Dimension 8, for obvious reasons has rather diffuse imaging to say the least and woofly bass due to the bunch of very small bass drivers trying to assert control over the backward facing 10" ABR. Don't get me wrong, I quite like the Dimension 8, but it has limitations. The Magnum K2 (and the Magister of the time) are rather more authoritative (If buying, just watch out for peeling vinyl skins on the bass drivers though).

Only the K2 has that problem the K has the same bass driver without the skin. So some just peel it off from the K2.
K much better cabinet, K2 better HF unit. My choice would be K.
There are simple mods that make the Dim8s sing.
