Good album. The 2nd one [Schwingungen] is good too but no Klaus Schulze on bottle tops,

I chose this album because I have been meaning to get around to investigating this band but up to now, I have somehow failed to do so. I wanted to use the CD swapping adventure as an opportunity to discover new music for myself and others, so I thought it was only right that I should choose as my own album something I don't know.
I did a little Googling around the subject of Ash Ra Tempel and it felt like their first album was most likely to be the one that would click best with my particular taste in music, so that's the one I got.
I had it sent directly to Jerry, so I haven't heard it yet and I don't intend make an effort to do so by online means until it comes to me at the end of the cycle. Exciting!!
Hope you like it chaps.

Thanks Chris! Yup, enjoying this. They take the long line in musical development, which suits my classical-oriented tastes well. It's definitely a grower - sounded a bit of a mess on first play, tbh. But no, it's all there, just took a 2nd play to start to tease out what is happening. On my 4th go through now as I type, and really grooving to it! Shame about the sq, a bit murky. But that's not unusual for 70s bands, is it!

Part Interstellar Overdrive, part Several Species... and quite a lot of extended Hendrix-style jamming. It grows, meanders nowhere in particular and wanes. As mood music goes, it's not bad at all, but I found my attention wandering several times. Overall, not one I would choose to play again.

Within seconds I was thinking: Interstellar Overdrive and Ernie Swinbank.
Ernie Swinbank?
A mate in the late '70s. He used to come into work raving enthusiasticly with vocal renditions of his latest purchase of Pink Floyd/Lindisfarne/Black Sabbath/Black Oak Arkansas/Monty Python. Ah yes...
I was listening on headphones, and I have to admit, at times, all that panning did get just a wee bit tiring.
A blast from the past, but not one I'd find myself playing again.
And only two tracks, Chris. Only two tracks. Questionable VFM!

Klaus was the Drummer for TD before Forming Ash Ra Tempel..but before TD Klaus was in a band called 'Psy Free'. Klaus did not start with the Syjthesizer solo stuff till about 1971, But on his 'La Vie Electronique 1' CD set there is material from as early as the late 60's

Sorry Chris but this isn't my type of thing at all. After the first bar or so I was thinking I'd like it but as the first track went on it just went downhill from my perspective.
Thinking I'm not a massive fan of Prog Rock.

Good point, apparently it's Krautrock, although my understanding is it's based on Prog Rock.
