Hadn't time for links, Jerry.
Places to go. People to see. Fish to fry.
One example on the 6.30 news: songwriter wrote song for Kylie Monogue's last album. 1 Million downloads gives her £100.

I have to admit, I've never been a fan of Vic Reeves, except in the remake of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased) and as a guest on things like QI. Most of his TV shows just don't make sense to me, but then again, I'm probably not his target demographic. What a bloody shame though. For a man who loves music, like Vic does, it's a terrible (but hopefully non-life-threatening) blow. I'm sure you and I probably have enough mono albums to get by, Mr W.

Not a fan myself. I just thought it a tad sad that anyone should lose their enjoyment of listening to music. No doubt he'll adapt to it; it's what we do. Don't know how I'd react. Must be a worry though when it's inoperable.

Me too.
I notice the pay is 'up to' £30 an hour. Maybe that's dependant on how much you pick so I might end up with minimum wage!

I had a nice broccoli and stilton soup last night. Someone else picked it.

There is a consequence to it, though. Inflation, which will effect everyone. It's already happening with the price of food. Petrol's gone up since last week. And then there's hike in energy prices which will effect eveything.

A man who knows finance very well said last year we will soon have high inflation to pay for Covid (and likely Brexit) If you need to borrow and can fix rates do it now

Gosh - is she skint? I'm surprised when artists do that.

I don't understand it either and seems a low price. Surely she could retain rights and have royalties go to her four children? Maybe she wants total control of what happens to the cash when she passes.

Tina Turner sells music rights to BMG The company´s CEO Hartwig Masuch said BMG was "honoured" to manage the interests of TurneLegendary American hitmaker Tina Turner has sold her music rights in a major deal with BMG, the record publisher announced Wednesday, the latest legacy artist to cash in on their extensive catalogue. The terms of the deal were not disclosed, but BMG said it includes all of Turner´s artist´s share of her recordings and her music publishing writer´s share, as well as neighbouring rights and name, image and likeness. Turner, 81, has sold over 100 million records. Warner Music will remain the Grammy-winner´s record company, BMG said. " Like any artist, the protection of my life´s work, my musical inheritance, is something personal," Turner said in a statement released by BMG, saying she was " confident" her work " is in professional and reliable hands." The company´s CEO Hartwig Masuch said BMG was " honoured" to manage the interests of Turner, responsible for classics including " What´s Love Got To Do With It" and " Private Dancer." " It is a responsibility we take seriously and will pursue diligently. She is truly and simply, the best," Masuch said. The sale is part of a song rights purchasing boom as financial markets increasingly are drawn to the lucrative portfolios as an asset class. In many cases, the transactions have come at staggering prices. Bob Dylan sold his full publishing catalogue for a reported sum of $300 million to Universal Music Publishing Group, while Stevie Nicks of Fleetwood Mac sold a majority stake in her catalogue reportedly for $100 million. BMG, part of the Bertelsmann media conglomerate, represents or owns the rights to the work of celebrities including John Lennon and Ringo Starr, Mick Jagger and Keith Richards, Kurt Cobain and David Bowie. It said it was planning to announce more acquisitions in the coming weeks. SOURCESounds to me like she'd rather have the money to disseminate how she wishes before she dies rather than imagine some of the claimants fighting over her legacy in her will. Just a guess, obviously. Mick Fleetwood has also sold his share of Fleetwood Mac's recordings to BMG.

No new gas boilers after 2035. Probably won't be here.

No new gas boilers after 2034. Probably won't be here. So we'll burn more oil in power stations to make nice clean electricity for heating. Makes perfect sense to me.

Heat pumps, operating in reverse to a refrigerator, are supposed to be going to replace them. It will mean an increase in electricity, but I think it's more efficient than gas.

All those heat pumps...
What may be the unforseen consequences of sucking all that heat out of the ground?
